Wa Shin is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Boston. I enjoyed all of the sushi, and everything was very fresh and well executed. That said, I think my overall rating really comes down to value and whether the experience matched the price. For two people, we spent around $620, with under $100 going toward drinks.

While the food was good, I am not sure it fully justified the cost. It did not feel like a truly standout or memorable experience. I may have a higher bar, having tried many omakase meals in Japan and other Asian countries, but even considering that, the ambiance did not feel as high-end as I expected based on the pictures posted on the restaurant’s website. The lighting and overall atmosphere felt average than anything elevated.

I did appreciate how quiet and calm the dining guests were, and the service was exceptional. Still, taken as a whole, I am not convinced the experience was worth the price for two people.

Wa Shin offers a good value for their omakase experience, even after the recent price increase. Everything tasted fresh but I have to say we enjoyed the first few app courses the most where there was room for more creativity in introducing flavors. The sushi courses were good but were pretty standard offerings.

Their service is quite exceptional. The staff was friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. We enjoyed our interactions with the chefs, staff, as well as neighboring patrons. The vibe at this restaurant is great and relaxing. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience.

Best meal I’ve had in Boston in years. I had given up on the Boston food scene. But this was a wonderful injection of something new. Service was excellent. The rice was the best I’ve had in Boston.

Anyone who says anything about the price has never worked in a setting like this or sourced these products.

In my opinion, the best sushi omakase in Boston. You are transported to Japan with the decor, traditional Edomae style, and flavorful bites. The quality of the fish and service are unmatched. Chef and all of his staff are accommodating, knowledgable, personable, and timely. The menu prioritizes seasonal ingredients which results in the highest variety and quality. The a la carte menu before the sweet courses allows even further exploration. I cannot recommend any place more highly than this!

Incredible experience. Amazing sushi and very friendly chef and staff. We felt very welcomed and had an amazing time! This is one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve had anywhere, and for $185 I’m convinced that it’s the best value as well. Can’t wait to come back!

This experience was unbelievable. I had the most amazing time for my anniversary. Every single course was to die for the staff was so attentive. They noticed every little thing when I was out of water, when I was out of ginger, or when I needed a refill on my drink, there was so much attention to detail. The fish was so fresh. It melted in my mouth and was the most amazing taste ever the chef was very personable and educated us on every course. It felt very interactive yet it refined I would recommend this to anybody that’s Omakase I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Japan

We had an excellent omakase experience here and can’t recommend it enough. The food was outstanding, with a great balance of classic omakase staples like toro and uni alongside dishes I’d never had before that were just as memorable. The monkfish liver and barracuda were particular highlights and delicious. Everything tasted extremely fresh, and the pacing and progression of the meal felt very thoughtful. The team did a great job explaining each course and answering questions throughout, and you could really feel the care and intention behind every dish. At this price point, the quality and variety felt like exceptional value. The à la carte offerings were also really fun and unique, including items I don’t often see, like pufferfish eggs and gizzard prepared in a traditional style.

The service really elevated the experience. Both the front- and back-of-house teams were on point from start to finish. The FOH staff was warm, attentive, and especially helpful when it came to guiding us through sake selections (I know next to nothing about sake), as well as recommending unique à la carte items available that night and explaining how different dishes came together whenever we had questions. The attention to detail and genuine care for the guests was evident throughout the night.

The space itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. The counter layout feels inviting and intimate, and it’s clear a lot of care went into creating an atmosphere that complements the meal and makes it a great place to spend the evening. Overall, an outstanding experience from start to finish, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

Finally there’s high standard genuine omakase in Boston. Love the balance of traditional Japanese technique with subtle creative touches, and the fish quality rivals top omakase spots in even NYC.
