4.5 rounded up. We visited on a Saturday for lunch. It was a pleasant surprise to be welcomed and have the menu offerings explained. They featured international menu. We order Chicken and a waffles, chicken tacos with fries and Spanish rice, and Mardi Gras wings with fries and macaroni salad. The food was served in an appropriate amount of time for what we ordered: 20 minutes. The chicken wings are really good, especially considering we don’t prefer unsauced wings. They provided a hot sauce upon request. The fries are nice and crispy and seasoned, the macaroni salad was tasty too. The chicken tacos were very flavorful but had to be eaten with knife and fork because the bottoms got soggy. The Spanish rice was very mushy, and could use some salt. We thought the chicken for the chicken and waffles would be a boneless so that you can eat it with knife and fork together as intended. The waffles were good but could be just a touch crispier to give that great texture and crunch that you think of with chicken and waffles. Service was excellent. We look forward to trying other offerings soon.

The food at Verlou’s is delicious! Everything they serve us made from scratch, right down to their fluffy warm biscuits. The menu is a little more limited than you may expect but it’s obvious that they put their heart into every dish. While we waited for our food to be served, they gave us a sample of their lasagna soup. It was amazing! We had to try more things. So we ordered the beef stew and turkey tetrazzini. The beef stew was flavorful, thick and the beef was as tender as could be. They cook it overnight to get that full flavor. The turkey tetrazzini was loaded with turkey. It came with two sides. The fried potatoes were perfectly cooked and I highly recommend the broccoli salad. They don’t skimp on the portions, either. A couple of things to know…they only take cash. There is an atm on site. You won’t find salt and pepper on the table. You won’t need it. They know how to season their food. I don’t live nearby but I’ll be making the trip down just to eat there again.

Mannnn, this is such a great place. Walked in and they helped to make me feel at home. They Explained the place and the menu to me, asked if I wanted the heat of my gumbo to be turned up more, frequently checked on me and sat and had a conversation with me as I was there alone. Friendly people and great food !

Delicious, freshly prepared food. We stopped in between visiting distilleries and AC was so hospitable and kind. He explained the menu and made sure we got everything we needed. We tried Jambalaya, brisket sandwich, and ribeye sandwich— all were delicious. Felt very welcome. All cash, price range is $20ish but huge portions! Easy to share. Clean establishment with very friendly staff.

Had the Fried Ribs!!! Rotating weekly menu R10!!! Food was hot made to order!!! Large portions you get your money’s worth and then some!!! Customer service was the definition of Southern hospitality!!! Cash only, but there is an ATM inside… We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!!!

Yall let me tell you the food and customer service is amazing!! Get you some of their food. Everything is made from scratch and fresh. I got catfish nuggets with steak fries and macaroni salad. Their white bean soup is so good!! Blueberry cobbler is amazing!!!

Stopped for lunch, Manager walked us though the menu and staff are very friendly. The food is amazing!!! We enjoyed the Louisiana Proud Red Beans & Rice with Andouille Smoked Sausage & cornbread and the Country chicken & dumplins with 3 cheese & corn salad. Finished up with delicious apple crisp !!

Best Gizzards I have eaten so far! Menu is kept small and not overwhelming , so not hard to pick a meal. The Staff there was very welcoming and sweet which made the food taste even better. We will most definitely be back there to experience and taste more of the real and fresh southern goodies.
