Unfortunately, this was one of the more disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in quite some time. I arrived shortly after 4:00 PM and added my name to the waitlist. I wasn’t seated for about 30 minutes, which I understood, it was busy but the experience didn’t improve from there.

I was seated in a very tight space facing a brick wall. As a solo diner, I didn’t mind the setting too much, as I planned to journal and enjoy a quiet glass of wine. However, what followed felt discourteous. The manager walked past to deliver another table’s order and kicked my chair without offering any acknowledgment, no “excuse me” or apology. Shortly after, my server did the same thing, again without any recognition.

While these moments may seem small, they left me feeling invisible and unwelcome. For an establishment of this caliber, I expected a higher level of attentiveness and basic courtesy.

Ultimately, the food and overall experience felt unsatisfactory. Food was just okay.

I’ve been to Verjus three times—the first for dinner, the second for my husband’s holiday party, and most recently this week to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Every time the food, service, and ambiance have been incredible. What an absolute gem. To boot, I reached out asking if it would be possible to post a birthday message for my husband on the Marquis the day before our reservation and they were very accommodating. It made his night when he saw it and everyone was so sweet and warm and wished him a happy birthday all night. We got the best table right by the kitchen. It’s hard to get a reservation here but VERY worth the effort. Everything is sheer perfection.

We absolutely loved the classic French foods here. The main entrees were more impressive than the smaller bites. Our favorites included the omelette, machego sausage (the bed of broccolini was amazing, and the dessert.

The service was top notch. Our only complaints were that there was no food menu and we had to crane our necks to see the sign on the wall.

Literally….. the best meal of my life. Verjus is at their PEAK! The steak, extraordinary and I wish I would have saved my bread for the jus. The duck, so crisp, rich, delicate. Eggs, jammy, tangy, delightful. The ham croquets were crispy, meaty, flavorful. The pan perdu, it is a hype and worth it. Wine list is extraordinary. The service is top notch. It can be very loud, but there’s no need to talk with outstanding food coming. Hands down the BEST restaurant right now in SF. If you can get a reservation, consider yourself blessed.

Everything was perfect. We got a LOT of dishes and 2 bottles of wine (6 people) and spent about $130 per person after gratuity etc and it felt reasonable.

Service was perfect and food was well paced. We didn’t feel rushed at all. Some items not pictured here. We got about 22 food menu items (multiples of some shared plates, a couple of entrees), and multiple desserts.

Ambiance was great – did not feel too loud. We were having such a great experience that I hardly noticed we weren’t actually in a little food and wine bubble.

We came here to celebrate a birthday. We got sat on time at a table by the window. All the staff was professional and courteous. The wine list could be overwhelming, but there’s a wine director who will make great recommendations.

Great ambience. Of all the wines we tasted – loved the Vouvray and the Rhône GSM the most. We ordered the Aubergine, Mushrooms, the sturgeon and the Bread pudding with ice cream. All very good. Service – par excellence!!

5 This wine bar is the epitome of romance. No wonder it’s French-inspired. It’s dark, moody, candle-lit, wooden notes, and just so oolala. Very charming and warm with some wine hall energy. If you want romance on a date, take them here. That being said, I’m not sure it’s canoodling appropriate, maybe light pecks only. I think the wine list by glass is actually a bit limited? Not as good as Union Larder or Golden Sardine. Overall, great environment

Verjus is a great wine-forward modern French bistro-type place. They have some amazing bottles, so it’s well-worth going that route.
