Great, dark ambiance with sort of an industrial feel. Service was great and I was surprised to receive such prompt service on a busy Saturday night. The drinks are creative and delicious. Our party ordered a different drink each time, and after sipping all the choices, I can honestly say there wasn’t a single one I didn’t enjoy. Though my favorite might be “Truth & Knowledge.” I’m looking forward to returning for more samples of the menu.

A hidden gem! Had never been here before. This is a cocktail bar attached to the Belle of Dayton distillery. You can try drinks made with their distilled spirits or any other spirits they may have. The drinks were great, the space was wonderful and it wasn’t too busy! They have an outdoor seating area as well. As an FYI no food is available. We will definitely be coming back!!!

If you’re looking for a high end cocktail with a hipster twist from a local distillery making their own spirits in the room next door, this is the best there is in Dayton. Great ambiance and seating. Knowledgeable staff. Phenomenal and creative cocktail menu and mixology tricks. Right in the Oregon District so a great afternoon hangout, place for a drink before or after dinner etc.

Great place, very small space, bar space for maybe 10 and then indoor seating for maybe 15 and then a sweet patio space that is larger than the inside. Bartender was very cool, polite, helpful. I didn’t personally care for the drinks I got, but I think that’s just my preferences and not because they made a bad drink objectively. Not going to unseat my favorite local bar but I’m sure it is lots of peoples’ favorite (and could be yours too!) as it is a really cool spot.

This visit would’ve been perfectly fine had it not been for the unnecessarily hostile bartender I encountered when I stopped by. As someone who doesn’t drink often and frequents bars even less, I was unfamiliar with the etiquette and procedure of ordering drinks at a bar, and this bartender made no effort to make me feel welcome or comfortable in that environment.

The Van Buren Room is an intimate and wonderful little new bar in downtown Dayton. The bartenders are all very awesome, friendly and knowledgeable. I had a shot of smooth and strong Japanese whiskey and a delicious cocktail known as “Dusk to Dawn.” Van Buren Room shares its location with the Belle of Dayton Distillery, and as such they have Belle’s fantastic spirits to imbibe. And not for nothing, they have possibly the best restrooms in the city.
