Best Ceviche I’ve ever had in the Bay Area , freshly squeezed orange juice , Excellent service by the waitress. The “ Sopa de Camarón “ was on point . Everything was prepared with Love

Arrived at around 5:30pm on a Sunday. The place was full. Waited for about 10 minutes before we were able to get seats. The servers were kind and gracious. Food portion for the chimichanga was suprisingly enormous. All meals were flavorful and served hot. Clamato was a new drink to us, a must-try! Interior was really nice. No parking though, need to park somewhere else near the place. Vallarta is a nice Mexican restaurant overall.

Mary/Mari (it was an abbreviation for her name) was amazing! The food was amazing! Super fresh, fast service and large portions for a decent price. I’d definitely recommend and come back! Everything I ordered was delicious. I don’t have any complaints.

Festive, brightly decorated Mexican seafood joint covered in Christmas lights and kitsch. A great option where fresh, quality seafood doesn’t have to be at an exorbitant cost. Excellent for a unique birthday or gathering with friends.

Whole Fried Red Snapper came crispy and smothered in a dry garlic-tomato sauce — a flavor oddly familiar to the Asian palette, a happy surprise.

Selection of seafood stews in flavorful tomato broth, excellent if seeking something warm and comforting, or a hangover helper.

Campechana cocktail, a combination of all shellfish offered: shrimp, octopus, oysters, abalone. Great for sharing. While minimally dressed to let the taste of seafood shine, the tomato sauce would have benefited from a little more salt, a little more acidity, a little more seasoning.

I ordered the fried whole fish. It was very dry. It’s always a hit and miss. This time it was a miss. Servers were great. But my food was not.

I ordered asada tacos and the meat was very tuff and flavorless. Chili Colorado also had the same type of meat in a mysterious red gravy with onions and bell peppers. Nothing like a rich chile Colorado flavor to it. The rice was hard and the service was overall was mediocre. I will not be going back. Price was $196 dollars for my family of 6 to eat. Would not recommend!

Update as of 7/25/2025 – Time for an update of my review since it has been sooo long. We came in after a hiatus of a couple years. The original family has sold to another, and we were skeptical as most people would be of new ownership. We came in pretty early on a week night and were immediately greeted and walked to our booth. The decor is pretty much the same, and the booths are newer and cleaner. The new owner/manager was working on some lighting at that time. The menu is the same with lots of traditional Mexican faire. It was always good food and plentiful in the past. They have kept that alive! YAY. . .
We both ordered the Texas chimichanga… word of warning… IT’s gigantic! And, during the week they ‘currently’ have 2 for 1 cocktails. Not only are the cocktails potent, but also still reasonably priced. We were happy to see they have retained the charm and friendly service of this little establishment that rocks the town.
NOTE – Park on the street as their lot is ‘tricky’ at best and there are only 5 slots.

The food was pretty good, but drinks were not so good. They looked pretty but didn’t taste it. I do think that you get your money’s worth on the food, though.

Everything was amazing except the veggie burrito as the recipe didn’t seem authentic. Loved the salsa and the special hot sauce.
