I have been to this restaurant for delicious South Indian food and Indian street food. I have also utilized them for catering for both North and South Indian cuisine. The service is professional, the owner/manager Kamal is easy to reach and work with, and the prices are also affordable. I recently had a gathering for the NY’s with a diverse range of people, ethnically and racially and with different dietary restrictions. The food was enjoyed by all. Highly recommend this place for both catering and dine in experience. They are also attentive to people who follow a vegan diet and of course, all the other cuisine is vegetarian.

Went for lunch at 1:30 on a weekday so it was pretty empty. Service could not have been better! We had a paper masala dosa (enough for 2 people unless you are very hungry), regular masala dosa, bhel, papad, tadka dal, salty lassi, salty lime soda. Everything was tasty. We’ve had all these dishes elsewhere, so we know what they should taste like. We liked the accompaniments with the dosas. Decor is basic with interesting wall art.

I ordered samosa chaat from Uber eats online. I explicitly mentioned about disposal spoon and fork on delivery… but still they did not send disposable spoon.. and when i called restaurant they said we do not provide disposal spoon in online order. I told him i am odering Samosa chaat how can i eat without spoon. They said if you want you can come resaturant and take it… he was talking so foolish… and samosa chaat taste was so bad….. never ever oder again in this resaturant.

Oh my God I found the best Indian Food i’ve ever had. This is my 2nd time coming, and I was blown away both times. 10/10 Herdwep was so helpful and kind.

Made a long drive to try, it was good! Chaat was a bit lackluster but Undhiyu was pretty nostalgic, Aalo paratha kept it’s promise! Pretty great Gujarati food on the other side of the globe, loved the staff!

We visited Uru-Swati for lunch. It is a pure vegetarian restaurant, conveniently located on Devon right across Patel Brothers.

They do have plenty of options and varieties like chaat, punjabi, gularati, Marathi, and South Indian in the menu to choose from.
The overall service and food were OK here.
Below are the items we ordered:

– dahi vada (1/5) the vada was not soft at all & didn’t soak any amount of dahi even after making pieced of the vada and letting it soak in the dahi for at least 10 mins. Didn’t end up eating finally. The dahi was good and not sour.
– puneri Missel (3/5) Usually, this item is known to be very spicy from the get-go. But it somehow had a very sweet initial taste followed by a bit of spiciness. Didn’t feel completely authentic. The side of bread was good, though.

Need to pay and park on the street side. You can use parkchicago app or pay using the parking meter.

Considering the inflation now a days the price of each dish was very very affordable and reasonable. So it’s a hit or a miss restaurant.

I really wanted to love this place, but… Here’s what happened…
We wanted to accommodate a vegetarian friend and someone recommended this place highly. The Indian street food was just right, with lots of savory, salty, sweet, tangy and crunchy bites.
Unfortunately, service was dismal. We went at a non -busy time but they forgot one of our orders. Even after 30 minutes and reminders it did not appear.
The restaurant occupies a modest space but it could be a lot cleaner and less cluttered in appearance.

Frozen peas for pani puri.
Spoiled potatoe curry.
Really cold peas and unpleasant taste of chaat.
Anybody reading this review should know this place is not serving fresh food. They freeze it from their catering business and serve to dine in customers. From my experience this place is unhygienic an I should have never gone, I hope y’all will read before you step in this place.

The food is good. We had masala dosa, malai kofta, dal vada, paper sada vada, although the dosas were the best. However, the sambar does not look/taste like South Indian. They only have sambar and coconut chutney. No tomato chutney.
The service is the worst part of this place. Horrible service. They barely take care of their guests and even before 21:30 (close time) they start turning off lights and pressuring you to leave the place.

If you have never tried Indian Street food like Samosa Chaat, Paav bhaaji or Aaloo Paratha. Please visit Uru-Swati. I have been at this place, couple of times now and have absolutely loved their dishes. Also the servers here are very friendly, attentive and respectful and the food they serve, is also decorated very thoughtfully. Cleanliness and Hygiene wise also this restaurant stands out. I would recommend this place without any doubt and would like to say; come out and grab a dosa or a dish of samosa chaat at Uru-Swati.
