Always can count on a solid iced americano here. The crumb cakes fresh out the oven has to be my favorite pastry uptown has to offer. Also the workers are extremely welcoming!!

After being a customer for almost 2 years, I wanted to leave a review about my go-to coffee shop, Uptown Coffee.

Since my first visit, Uptown Coffee has stood out for its cozy vibes. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for a relaxed morning with family, a casual hangout with friends or a quick stop in the middle of a work day. I’ve met up with friends here many times, including a few who can be picky, and everyone has consistently enjoyed both the coffee and the baked goods (a special shoutout to the savory scone).

The staff are always friendly and attentive. On busy mornings they keep things moving efficiently and when it’s quieter they’re genuinely conversational. Since I’m a regular, I love being greeted by name as it adds an almost Cheers-like feeling where everybody knows your name.

As for the coffee itself, espresso drinks are freshly ground before being brewed into that tasty latte. The iced coffees always have a full-bodied taste whether drinking it black or with milk. One standout feature is the variety of cold foam flavors. The baristas are always happy to suggest pairings that complement each drink.

The rotating seasonal menu is another highlight. You’ve got the Candy Cane Mocha in December, the Chocolate Covered Strawberry latte during February’s Valentine’s season (along with the anti-Valentine’s Day menu) and my favorite, the Teddy Graham Latte in the spring. There’s always something to look forward to and an adventure to be had with your coffee.

This brings me to the recent review from the self-described “dedicated espresso drinker” who cited Starbucks as their standard for consistency (really?). Everyone is entitled to their preferences, even if you have to proclaim you’re a dedicated espresso drinker, but it should be pointed out that consistency and quality mean very different things in independent coffee shops versus large chains. In my nearly two years of coming to Uptown Coffee, the espresso, service and overall experience has been consistently excellent.

Stop in for the vibes, stay for the coffee and conversation and leave with a treat in hand.

Coffee after a dentist visit didn’t seem like the best idea, so I went with the special of the day: a blueberry foam iced matcha latte with oat milk. The baristas were friendly, and the space has a clean, elegant vibe—definitely the kind of place I could see myself bringing a laptop to get some work done. The blueberry foam adds a sweet twist that complements the matcha nicely. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, so it’s a great pick if you like your matcha lattes with a bit of sweetness.

I judge cafes by their iced latte since that’s my go to drink. They make their coffee well. I love it. The chocolate chip banana bread was perfect. Would definitely recommend! We’ll be back

I stopped by Uptown Coffee and really enjoyed it. The coffee was good, and the croissant was fresh and delicious. I also tried the banana bread, which was very tasty.

A cozy spot to grab a coffee and pastry — definitely worth a visit!

I’m visiting from New York and found this spot online. While the atmosphere is great—very cute and homey with a fireplace—the experience went downhill from there. The cashier seemed impatient while I was deciding, which wasn’t a great start.

As a dedicated espresso drinker, I was disappointed to find that the beans aren’t freshly ground; the coffee comes from a premade dispenser. My 16 oz drink ($7.25) tasted like watered-down coffee with excessive sugar and flavoring—it definitely wasn’t true espresso. I ended up throwing it away after a few sips. Next time, I’ll make the drive to Starbucks for a more consistent cup

Thank you so much, GRACE, for such a warm welcome. The coffee was so good, and the banana bread was so delicious.
What a beautiful and calm environment to study, work, have a cup of tea/coffee with a friend, and even a date.

I came back and got the chocolate Oatmeal cookie. Words can not explain how amazing it is!!!

If you are ever in the area of Hackensack, please check them out.

Nice addition to downtown Maywood. Relatively new and improved remodel and owner of the prior coffee shop. Lots of 2 seat tables + seating at the window counter. Sparkling clean lines. Kinda reminds me somewhat of a Starbucks but without the laptop crowd. And here, if you’re dining inside, you can request a glass cup as compared to Starbucks, where it’s paper/plastic only. Comfortable atmosphere. Service is friendly and good. Coffee is just the way I like it, as are the lattes. Limited selection of baked goods, most made in-house, but what they have is very tasty. The Banana loaf and the Bread Pudding cupcakes especially delish. They also offer a small selection of sandwiches plus a different in-house made soup, on several weekdays. I’ve now tried all of the soups, and they’re all quite good. A couple of small tables outside in good weather. I’ve been here numerous times now and always satisfied. Service pets allowed. Clean M/F rest room. Municipal lot & a rear (unmarked) entrance to the cafe if no spots are available in the street front.

I came across this cozy and beautiful cafe while running errands in Maywood neighborhood.
Fragrance of the fresh brewed coffee hits your brain and sets the vibe right as soon as you enter.
They have quite decent variety of coffee, tea available. They even have soups, and ample options in bakery items.
My wife and I tried Americano and Cappuccino. The flavor was very rich and on point. Honestly, other coffee shops undermine the original coffee taste by adding too much syrup. But trust me, you won’t regret having a large cup of coffee (or two).
We also tried Banana bread. It certainly paired well with our drink.
Vibe was so good overall that we decided to have another round of Cafe Au Lait and ‘uptown Funk’. They were equally good.
Staff was very friendly. They explained us about our drinks well.
Overall a fantastic place to have coffee and kill some time.
Highly recommended!!

Very polite staff. I bought several different drinks to try out and they were all delicious. I got an iced mocha latte, a cappuccino, a hot latte and and an iced latte with sweet cold foam. I ordered pickup through UberEATS and it was ready within 15mins. Young ladies working there are quick and very pleasant. Shop is beautiful and clean. Seating was so cute and actually comfortable. Very nice addition to Pleasant Ave.
