First visit to UMI Buffet and I’ll definitely be back.
From the moment you walk in, UMI stands out for its huge variety of food options. They offer an impressive selection, especially when it comes to seafood, with plenty of hot and cold options, all well presented and constantly refilled.
I really liked that the food felt fresh, with something for everyone: sushi, seafood, Asian dishes, hot foods, and a solid dessert section. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and has a great atmosphere—perfect for coming with family or friends.
The service was attentive and efficient, and considering the quality and variety, the price is absolutely worth it. Definitely one of the better buffet options in Indianapolis and a place I highly recommend.

One of the worst places in Indy. It is not worth the money. Food is not seasoned well. It reeked of marijuana and butane. Waitress gave me a dirty straw and utensils. Waitress was not attentive. For the price posted at the door of 29.99 per person, restaurant could have done better. I guess that’s for the crab legs and crabs which are very small. Total of 72.57 was ridiculous, as posted on the receipt. Different price for cash. Decor is tacky and extremely bright. Apparently, they can’t remember the tables because our table was visibly numbered. Was not a good experience at all. Don’t waste your time or money.

The absolute best buffet we have ever been to! Everything is very fresh. Everything is included for dining in. All drinks, hot pot and the ramen station. There are so many options. The place is very clean and ensures you’re treated well. All the staff are so kind and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. I’m so glad we came here. It was worth the 2 & half hour drive one way for my family.

GO AT YOUR OWN RISK. We have been several times with the family since they opened. Food has decreased in quality, but in general is buffet food with some unique choices. 2/3 of the way through our meal today I looked up and immediately lost my appetite. This is definitely mold and a health dept. violation at best. I googled while sitting there contemplating my life choices and mold spores can absolutely drop from the ceiling into the food as we were RIGHT under it. I am pregnant and my husband spoke to the manager hoping for a resolution. He was told ‘it’s not a big deal’ and ‘it had been checked out’ after the manager asked ‘which one?’ Referring to ceiling mold. We were not compensated and still paid $150 per the bill. We were absolutely dismissed with no consideration for my health as a pregnant person seated around mold exposure, or for our dining experience as a whole. I understand this business needs to make money, I don’t expect to complain & get free things at the drop of a hat, but this is unprofessional, disgusting, and I don’t appreciate being seated directly under the mold with no through towards my experience as a diner. We will not be coming back. If you decide to go, look up. My biggest concern honestly isn’t the mold itself, it’s the disregard for diner safety and sanitation. If this is allowed to exist in the open and accepted as ‘not a big deal’ then what else can’t we see?

Discovered this place while I was I area and decided to do the lunch buffet for $19.99. Pretty standard Chinese food buffet items. BUT if you like sushi, this is the place to go!! Their sushi tasted fresh and lots of variety, also loved that they even have ability to customize your own sushi as they had components section…so you can add fish eggs to garnish the piece if you wanted, just as an example. I would recommend just for the sushi alone!

We came to eat around four, just after the end of the lunch buffet, so we were charged full price for the dinner buffet. Our server could not communicate very well with us so we ended up just having water. The coolers were bare, and the food selection wasn’t that good. I mainly had sushi, but that had been picked through thoroughly. Our server never came to check on us again even though they charge you a mandatory 12% gratuity.

It is a spotless place to eat seafood. They have multiple options of sushi. I was surprised by the size of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place for a great time with the family. The only thing to mention is that the price is high and tips are already included.

This was my first time here, and I came as with group of 12. It’s a good spot for those who enjoy seafood and sushi—plenty of shrimp, crab legs, and a wide variety of buffet items. Special thanks to the staff who brought us extra lobster during the meal! Overall, it was a good experience. The total came to $37.19 per person, kinda expensive for me tho.
Just a heads-up: for larger groups, the tip is already automatically included in the bill, so there’s no need to add an extra tip when paying by card. Worth confirming at checkout.

They have changed a lot, as of OCT 1,2025 they limited the options they have and added 12% service charge. The took out most of their grilled and baked options and their sushi grade and serving has changed as well. I don’t think it is worth paying $36.28 ( dinner or weekend for one person including tax ) .
