The nicest family and the best food you will find anywhere! Phillip is a fantastic conversationalist and baker! His wife Emily is a helpful Gem. Holly gives the best hugs and service and Kevin is the best chef and so friendly. Why do I know their names? Because I am a customer and they all remember my name and deliver the BEST service. Not to mention the sourdough is TDF!!! Really makes me proud to support local when it’s people like them. Plus, I mean… look at this bread.

My friend and I took a motorcycle ride from Fort Worth to Hico and stopped by here randomly for a coffee and pastry before heading back. We were both very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service here.

My friend got a latte, cinnamon roll, and a kolache. I got a peach kolache, a cinnamon roll, and a loaf of bacon cheddar bread. They were all as good as any we’ve had, and we frequent cafes during work travel all over the US. The kolaches in particular were great.

Lastly, the owners and staff were exceptionally nice and we spent close to an hour chatting with them. They’re the sort of people that are serious about their craft but don’t take themselves too seriously. Really lovely people.

Stopped by and this place is awesome! The owner is a very friendly man! He was running the place by himself due to his helpers having the day off and treated us so nicely! The Cinnamon Rolls were delicious! Definitely coming back for more and to have some lunch! Amazing place and atmosphere!

Absolutely amazing. Had the Brisket cheese sandwich and the chicken avocado sandwich and both were excellent. The peach kolache is the best thing I’ve had in a long time. Cookies are also excellent. Good prices and good people. We will definitely eat here next time we pass thru Hico

Two Clay Bird’s is an absolute gem!! The kindest, most genuine people combined with stellar homemade food. The bread is soo good, the best you’ll find anywhere near here. They have a few lunch options per week, and every one I’ve tried is spectacular. Highly recommend stopping by!

Man oh man! We stopped in there on a Saturday afternoon. I have never had a sandwich there before, only pastries and bread. I had the chicken salad pimento cheese grilled sandwich. Shared with my daughter. It may have been the best sandwich I have ever had! It was amazing. Wish I hadn’t split it. The good news is we live here and we will be back for more. Also, bought some pastries and bread. The sourdough bacon bread was amazing! And of course the pastries are always the best! I personally love the blueberry cheese kolache. The apple cinnamon roll was the best cinnamon roll ever. If you have not tried their stuff then you are missing out on one of the things the that makes Hico worth the drive! Our town is full of amazing places like this.

I’m from the San Antonio area but had to drive to Dallas and was looking on Google maps for a local place to eat breakfast and found this place. I’m so glad we stopped. Everything was delicious. The cinnamon rolls were perfect I had to buy extra for my whole family for breakfast the next day. The service is also great. They make you feel very welcome.
