With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006.
Gourmet burger chain with beef, turkey & vegan options (some offer game meats), plus spiked shakes.

It was a quiet Thursday afternoon when I came, my food came out quick and tasted pretty good! I also tried a PB shake and that was delicious. Only thing is inside there were lots of dirty tables with trays of food on them that hadn’t been cleared yet, so kind of off putting to find a seat and half aren’t wiped or cleared off from the last person.

1st off burger was phenomenal, if rating on burger and customer service alone would be a 5 star review. Friendly and fun staff, great pickles and burgers. Shakes were also good! Fries were sub par at best, tasted burnt, were all end pieces and cold. The chips would have been great but had so much seasoning on them that eating one was like pouring a salt shaker in your mouth. Would definitely go back for the burgers but would pass on fries and do chips with no seasoning.

I went yesterday to try something new. I purchased the classic, hooties hot, and 2 order of fries. When we got home and I opened my plate, everything seemed fine until I picked my chicken sandwich up. There was a very long hair inside my sandwich. A hair so long it was hanging from 2 sides of the sandwich. I went back. They offered to remake or refund. To remake would’ve been another 15-20 minutes so it was out of the question. My friends burger ok. It wasn’t as flavorful as he expected and the fries had no seasoning on them. Very disappointed. This was definitely a 1 and done for us.

We were pleasantly surpried! At first glance I thought the burger looked plain however quickly realised it has such great flavor, I didn’t need any mayo, ketchup or any sauce. Quality.
