This pastry shop has the best pastries I’ve had in Seattle. I especially recommend the purple sweet potato lava balls. Their lava filling is different from other places; it’s flowing but not mushy, and it’s really delicious and satisfying. I arrived at 10 am on a Sunday and already had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get in. I can only say that you should come early on weekends.

This is the largest selection of dim sum I’ve ever seen, so I’ll give them that. There’s interesting items I haven’t encountered before like the (Football)Crispy Fried Pork Dumpling, House Special Chiu Chow Dumpling, and deep fried taro dumplings.

The chiu chow dumpling was hard to eat because the wrapper was so thick and gummy. The “beef” in the beef rice rolls looked and tasted strange – not like beef. It was like some sort of mush that tasted slightly sweet. The stuffed eggplant was way too overdone and super greasy. Actually everything was super greasy, but I guess that’s all Chinese food. Even my favorite dim sum dish of radish cakes didn’t taste that great. It seemed to be missing something. I piled a bunch of chili on top to make up for it.

The restaurant is huge with tons of different areas for seating. Some are better than others, but it depends on how busy they are. There was a dead bug like a flea or mosquito looking thing on my booth seat the first time I came here, and that was right when it opened at 11am that day.

Water never gets refilled unless you ask. I had multiple issues with the tablet used for ordering. I could scroll and add items, but then I couldn’t remove them or press the “call waitstaff” option. Others tried and had the same thing happen.

There’s a wide variety of dim sum here. The taste is above average for the U.S., though not the best I’ve had. The main issue was that the food came out very slowly. Our group of seven ended up spending almost two hours finishing the meal because of the wait. Prices are reasonable, and there’s plenty of parking available.

This is the best Hong Kong-style dim sum restaurant in North Seattle, and this is my third visit in three months. They’ve added many new items to the menu this time. The pan-fried squid cakes are still as delicious as ever, and the new pan-fried Angus beef patties are excellent; the beef quality is superb. The crispy roasted pork buns are also very good. In short, I will definitely continue to visit this restaurant whenever I’m in North Seattle.

What a delicious restaurant. The shrimp dumplings were juicy, meaty, and freshly steamed. They didn’t taste like they had fillers in them or any extra sweetness other than the shrimp itself. The shrimp and chives didn’t have the slightly bitter aftertaste that you get in Chinatown. Maybe it’s because the dumplings aren’t sitting in the bamboo carts for more than 10-15 minutes and are made to order. The shrimp and tofu dim sum dish was freshly fried and crispy. I loved how steam was coming out of the shrimp side and I had to blow on it to cool it down. Cutting the shrimp and tofu in half was satisfying and they retained their texture.
I had more dishes but what stood out was the service, efficiency, and cleanliness of the restaurant. The turns were smooth, the ordering tablet and server checking out made it easy to enjoy a meal and not have to flag someone down or feel rushed to leave.
This restaurant is miles ahead of the what I call the dysfunctional dim sum cart experience. There is no pressure nor upselling.
5 stars.

Ambience is nice and open, lighting is low though. Service was steady. All the dishes we tried were very lightly seasoned (traditional Cantonese style?), salt & pepper shakers on the table would be nice. I like to combine chili oil with a little soy sauce and dip my dim sum, their chili oil did not taste fresh. The shrimp rolls were atleast very full of shrimp.

I’ve heard such good things about the Renton location; so we were so excited to hear it was opening up a little closer to where we live. We finally got to try it out! It was just okay….they’re probably still working out the kinks. Service was very friendly! We saw that everyone was working very hard and as quickly as they could. But the food just came out really slowly. We had to cancel a couple items just because we didn’t want to wait any longer and were basically full from what we got.

Food was fine. Some dishes came out lukewarm. We like our dim sum; and any food for that matter, very hot. None of it seemed very hot. As much hype as we heard about this place, it didn’t really meet our expectations. We got sui mai, shrimp balls, tripe, sticky rice, this truffle Xiao Long Bao, meat ball, eggplant/shrimp dish. All were just okay and nothing spectacular. For the wait and hype; probably not worth it. But we’ll probably come back later after, hopefully, they work out their service issues.

The Shoreline Triumph Valley has a bright and open atmosphere. It offers a good variety of dim sum (both sweet and savory, steamed and pan- or deep-fried). Food was good and ingredients used were fresh. Courteous and friendly wait staff made the dining experience enjoyable.

Why did I rate it four stars instead of five? I may be a bit nitpicking but this type of Cantonese dim sum (or “yum cha”) culture is meant to offer a variety of refined snack foods prepared using different cooking methods, creating a grand selection of flavors and textures. Basic variety was there for the most part but some of the dumplings were too humongous to be enticing, and took away the intended refinement nature of the dim sum experience. That said, you do get more bang for your buck.

So, let’s break down this review into separate categories.

Food and prices:
As far as food, what we ordered and tried were all good. No complaints on food. Portuguese egg tart is good, so is their matcha custard bun. Portion sizes was reasonable. We enjoyed the rice roll with chicken feet and ribs the most and kids liked them as well.

Service:
People are nice. They brought out things we need and the tea pretty quick. I like their ordering system if it actually works flawlessly as intended.

Wait time:
When we were there, the wait time was crazy long to get a seat and we know why. We waited over an hour on Sunday noon. When people order from the tablet, there’s some miscommunication and some food items doesn’t get registered and is not brought out. It seems to happen to a lot of table, it happened to the 3 table around me and my table too. So when people sit around waiting for food that doesn’t come, the waiting time gets long and the wait-list for people coming in also gets backed up.

I will still come back since the food is good, but we’ll be more aware of the wait time and come on a weekday to see if it’s any better.

Remember that dim sum is offered only for breakfast/lunch time, and not on dinner.

Just came back from the soft opening and this is the best dim sum in North Seattle hands down!! Every dish we had was flavorful and fresh without being salty or overpowering. The interior is also well-updated with nice lighting, seating, and even background music. The service was amazing despite the lunch rush on the first day–multiple wait staff checked on us and were very polite and courteous. Plenty of street parking in the lot, but get here early because there was a line forming at the door by 10:45am. We’re excited to go back and try each dish during future visits!
