I’m not one to ever leave reviews, especially hateful ones but I am truly appalled. The first time my husband and I went to town tavern the service was amazing, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was top notch. However, as each visit came, the service, food, and atmosphere have been lacking significantly. The first time we went I got the buffalo chicken dip, best i’ve ever had. But most recently the second photo is what it looked like most recently. I’m not here to bash the staff, because I get it, working in restaurants is not an easy task, but if your moto is promising excellent service and food, please start living upto that.

The new owners/management have done a great job remodeling this spot. I welcome this addition to Ashe County. The menu has a good variety and is very competitive. The bar choices are pretty straight forward and (though basic and not too extensive or crafty) offer something for most anyone. Very family friendly and have tons of games etc. streaming on the many large screen tv’s. We have been several times and really appreciate all of the staff there. Go check them out!

We had a great time here. The whole place is inviting and has a welcoming feel from the moment you step inside. We sat upstairs and loved it. The bathrooms are downstairs though so keep that in mind if that matters to your party. The food was great, restrooms were spacious and clean. The prices are also great. The staff was helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back many times.

Fun new spot for dinner and drinks in West Jefferson. Place was slammed on a Sunday evening and everyone was having a blast. Wall to wall tvs for watching football. Good mix of local and national or international brews. Apparently there was a tremendous unmet demand for a town tavern!

Cool vibe on opening night. May be my new favorite restaurant in West Jefferson. It has 2 floors, the top entering from Backstreet (not a true entrance), and the bottom entering from N. Jefferson Ave (the main strip). Good variety of food, and reasonable prices. By far, the coolest place in town until someone new possibly comes along. My only initial criticism is that they have 3 goofy full size kid games (e.g. sit on motorbike video games and prize grab) crammed into the corner on the top floor and really don’t belong. They have one lone 2-top table sitting right next to them that’s an epilepsy nightmare with the games’ neon lights flashing in your eyes…. They should definitely, and my prediction, will remove those and replace with 2 or 3 more tables. Overall, VERY pleased to see this restaurant in town.

We were seated right away but no server for 5 minutes to get drink order. We saw servers running around – not too busy – but nobody stopped. Red flag for us but, once we ordered, the food was retribution! I got French dip which was juicy meat, hot and tasty. Fries are excellent. I ordered two drinks which were ok. Hubby ordered a burger which was also excellent. Hot and juicy. There are million televisions so it definitely a sports bar feel. I’m not a fan of all the distraction. But worth a visit for the food. And prices were good.

Have eaten here 5x now and able to give an honest review. Atmosphere is solid and service is expedient. Prices are good for West Jefferson and compete with other eateries.
Menu consistency, preparation, and quality are where we need to see some improvement to capture the local clientele. Every meal I have ordered was very pedestrian. The buffalo chicken dip was great, then it changed the next time i ordered it. The fries have changed a few times (now appears to be food service bag fries). I’ve heard some folks love the sandwich rolls, but for my taste they seem par-baked.
Get the quality and consistency of the menu tightened up and find a steady bartender who gets to know their customers. Then, you will do much better with your locals, which will keep you busy in these lean winter months.

Forgot it was super bowl . Will not go back on super bowl Sunday. Our waitress was wonderful. My sister and I shared a Carolina burger and we felt it wasn’t cooked enough. The waitress helped get us a new one without any problem. The new one was really good.
