This was my first time to a Tony Roma’s. Did not even know we had one on the RDU area. The ribs were amazing, reminding me of Oh Brian’s from back in the 80s. The cheesecake tasted like Tripps and was delicious. They were very short staffed, but the person who took care of us did a great job. Will definitely be back and recommend.

They need more staff. I know it is hard right now but a solution might be raise prices a bit and pass that on to servers and bartenders. I went in for a quick (so I thought) lunch and was disappointed. I usually sit at the bar thinking I will get better service, but no bartender on duty, humm, a bar in a hotel with no bartender at 12 noon primetime lunch time??? Any way we had our order taken and the salad was wilted with the fork frozen on the dish. The soup and salad came before the beer. At least that was fast. It looked like a manager came out and started to take control and things were fine after. The food was great, they do have some great ribs fall off the bone. I will be back hopefully with better service.

So we decided to give Tony Roma( which is located in the Delta hotel in Durham) a try tonight for dinner and I was overall pleased with everything. Our server Megan was fantastic, she made sure everything was ok even when there was a drop in communication when my daughter ordered the Miami burger. The one hick up was when one of the guys in the kitchen put his hands in his hair while in the kitchen and I didn’t see him wash his hands afterwards. We will definitely go back again. I ordered the Tony Asian salad and we also tried the seasonal cobbler ( peaches and blueberries) with vanilla ice cream.

Came for a nice dinner with family. Attentive and friendly service. The food was good and prepared quickly without affecting quality. The shrimp appetizer is recommended. I had the short ribs and they were fantastic. Absolutely tender. Next time though I’d get the sauce on the side.

Went here during dinner for the first time, it is a very fancy restaurant. I ordered Caesar’s salad and it was great! It was too much for me though, I wasn’t able to finish. My server, Trisha did a great job communicating and taking my order. She casually checks in on me time to time. She recommended me the Strawberry Cheesecake and it was delicious! It wasn’t too sweet unlike any other cheesecake. Their strawberry lemonade was refreshing as well, I loved it. I will definitely order again when I stay at Delta. I highly recommend!

The signature burger isn’t great. It didn’t have much wow factor. The onion loaf is just onion rings stacked up. It looks cool though.

We recently checked this spot out for lunch. Usually iffy about going to franchise spots like this, but it was surprisingly good. We got their Onion Loaf Sampler, Filet Medallions, and Chicken Alfredo and it was all as amazing as it looks. Don’t skip on dessert, their seasonal fruit cobbler was really good. It was peach when we went. Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive.

My wife and I worked as servers at Tony Roma’s TR in Orlando. Me for 20 years and she for 5 years. Still living in Orlando I often crave the onion loaf and ribs. Down in west palm beach there is a TR but they do not serve the onion loaf. TR without onion loaf is un-American. Anyway the west palm beach location is connected to an old hotel but the ribs were great. Now I see that a TR opened in Raleigh North Carolina so the wife and I took the 1:30 Delta flight to RDU from MCO to visit Saturday night. Made a reservation on OpenTable for 5:15 PM and arrived just before. The outside looks just like a TonyRomas attached to a hotel but the inside could be any restaurant really. This TonyRomas is attached to a brand new Marriott Delta Hotel and the restaurant has been open less than two months. We were sat at a very comfortable booth which overlooked the food line which I was very happy to do as we wanted to see the food coming out of the window. Having worked there so many years I was happy to see so many of the old favorites on the menu. However the menu was as big with variety as the cheesecake factory which always causes me concern that the kitchen will be overwhelmed. We ordered a well-done onion loaf and chicken shrimp with no chives. They both came out perfect as we ordered. The onion loaf was amazing and so was the Kickin shrimp. I do miss however the barbecue mayonnaise dipping sauce which used to accompany the onion loaf. I also missed the red hot sauce which when combined with mayonnaise made the perfect dipping sauce but that is no longer so I combined mayonnaise and Carolina honeys which was just a little too sweet. The ticket time was over 25 minutes which is quite long however we were in no rush. Our server brought over bread which was not like the bread we remember served with margarine. I recommend going back to the herb butter that was previously served with bread or to regular butter as margarine is just gross. Our server Jivonni was attentive friendly and on point with drink refills and check backs. I could see the restaurant getting quite busy with to go orders which seem to back up what was happening in the restaurant as far as ticket times. For dinner I ordered the full slab of baby back‘s with Caroline honey sauce accompanied with garlic seared green beans and coleslaw. My wife ordered chicken tenders rolled in Carolina honey sauce with corn on the cob. My wife said the tenders were just how she remembered. So was the corn, water logged. Not great. Glad the portion of corn is 1/4 what it should be. Not a great substitute for the french fries. Will know better next time. Now to what TonyRomas is famous for…Ribs. My baby backs were good, not great. They were tender but not fall off the bone. I needed a knife to cut off the meat from the bone which is not how it should be. I believe the preparation of the ribs were lacking. The back part of the baby back skin should be removed before baking and it was not. Also based on the tenderness of the ribs I believe the preparation did not follow standards of Tony Romas or they would have been more tender. Perhaps ask Chef Bob. The garlic seared green beans were perfect and the coleslaw was on point. The dessert menu was OK but not classic TonyRomas. I saw they had cobbler and cheesecake however I missed the mini desserts that we have come to love. Instead we ordered the brownie sundae which was not like the brownie sundae of old TonyRomas. It was OK I do like that there are different flavors of ice cream which we never had at our Tony Romas. Perhaps consider the mini desserts and the trio which is a nice ending to a large meal. In summary it was worth the trip to Raleigh Durham to eat at TonyRomas. I hope to come back and have some fall off the bone ribs as soon as the recipe can be followed. If so it would get a six out of five star review.
