I have visited this Lobby pavilion diner on numerous occasions for a quick coffee while dropping off my grand daughter who has autism at the Fred Keller school. The lobby diner is directly opposite the entry to school. I have purchased coffee and at times a breakfast sandwich and sat at the tables with my grandaughter. The cashier has always been very unwelcoming, not the friendliest but today she crossed the line with her rude behavior. On this morning I arrived early with my granddaughter and I sat at the tables BUT I DID NOT PURCHASE FROM HER ESTABLISHMENT. I had a dunkin coffee. The lobby tables are not marked that they are diner tables so while there are two areas a person can easily be confused and think this is lobby seating as opposed to diner seating. My grandaughter was talking loud SHE HAS AUTISM…. and it was clear that the elderly diner cashier was bothered. She came over VERY RUDELY AND SAID THAT THE TABLES WERE FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS AND THAT NOW SHE NEEDED TO DISINFECT THE TABLES. Not sure why she didn’t just let us know in a polite way that the tables were for customers of the diner and that there was designated seating that we could utilize that was available for lobby…. Since she has no signage stating that the area is not part of lobby area. I went over to her and let her know I come here a lot and have purchased and sat with my grandaughter many times and this is the first time I have not purchased a coffee and that it was rude for her to continue to repeat how she now had to disinfect the tables because we had sat down. I’m rating this establishment ON THE RUDENESS OF THEIR CASHIER. The cashier has every right to let me know that the tables are for paying customers BUT SHE SHOULD SPEAK TO PEOPLE…. Especially since I have been a paying customer many times before with respect and courtesy because now I will never purchase at her establishment again. I’m not sure why she felt it necessary to keep repeating that she needed to disinfect her tables just because I sat their with my grandaughter because when I have been a paying customer I never heard anything about disinfecting tables. She immediately came over and started spraying down the tables. Never has she done this in the past. She could have told me politely that tables were for customers and shown me the seating area for lobby and then cleaned her tables BUT ANNOUNCING REPEATEDLY THAT NOW SHE NEEDED TO DISINFECT WAS RUDE AND INSENSITIVE. She works in the service industry and common courtesy and kindness is a plus in deterring where I spend my money and her insensitivity was unacceptable. She even went into the school to complain and then loudly stated that the school needs to send out an email to let the parents know. THIS CASHIER NEEDS TRAINING! She’s rude.
