What was pretty surprising when I opened the box was how large these were. I was expecting normal-sized slices, but these were double the width of a traditional slice – basically two in one.
I thought both slices were above-average. The crust was super-thin, but not NY-style cracker-like, more Neapolitan-style in its floppiness and softness. I do prefer it baked a little bit more, as I think it was too soft here. One thing I appreciated was the salt levels were really nice.
The pepperoni was slightly better, as the tomato sauce tasted really fresh, and combined with the cheese nicely. There were also a ton of pepperoni cups on the pizza, and each received a pretty good cupping. The sausage pizza wasn’t bad, but it felt a bit dry – like there wasn’t enough white sauce present. The cheese also tasted kind of hard like it was over-baked. I did like the way the plants incorporated into the sauce, though
The outer crust was not good on these slices – it was far too chewy to actually finish.
It cost me about $6 per slice, which is a bit expensive – but these are very large slices, so it’s not a terrible deal.
Overall, I thought the pizza was solid, but if I were to come back, I probably would try the sandwiches instead. 7.75/10
Update: I actually did go back and try the mortadella sandwich. Despite the fact that pistachio wasn’t an option, I got it anyway – it just had whipped ricotta & mortadella.
The amount of mortadella on here was really impressive. It felt like mounds and mounds of endless slices, overpowering the bread and providing a lot of the taste.
Thankfully – the meat was very good. It was cold, but the amount of fat in it was great – along with the saltiness level. The overall sandwich was pretty salty in fact, but I actually liked this part
The whipped ricotta added necessary moisture and excellent creaminess to the dish.
I liked the fact that it was on focaccia, and the bread itself was thick, oily, and airy, but I didn’t think it was that crispy – it felt a bit too soft. I’m used to that crunch when I bite down on really good focaccia, and that was missing here
I really liked this sandwich overall though – despite the missing pistachio jazz – it had a lot of elements that really worked for me.
I’d give the pizza a 7.75 and the sandwich an 8.75 for an overall 8.25/10
Edit: The restaurant refunded me in full. Restaurant business is tough and I appreciate their sincerity. Will give the restaurant another shot and maybe pick a non-peak hour this time.
Big open area and very convenient to walk to location near the Fremont troll.
We actually liked our appetizers better than our main course of pizza. Don’t skip on the asparagus or the incredible cold sesame noodles! I would have those noodles again in a heartbeat.
The pizza was better than averagewith the crust being the best part of it. The toppings were a bit lackluster, it just didn’t come together quite like we expected they would, especially the pesto. The ranch is perfect, herby, and the cocktails are lovely too.
We got so lucky with parking, but I can imagine that would be really hard in this area.
The entire experience was amazing. We can’t wait to visit again.
