We saw the sign outside for lychee cocktails, so sat at the bar for drinks. The accompanying corn and sauce snacks are addictive!
Our pit stop ended up being dinner and cocktails and a flight of infused pisco (Peruvian spirit), and went so well that we had to rush back to make it to our show on time.
The flight of 5 pisco samples is worth it. Our favorites are the strawberry and the ahi pepper (I love how the spicy notes hit the back of the throat!). And the lychee cocktails are delicious btw.
I appreciate the vegetarian section of the menu. The crispy tofu is yummy!
My only disappointment regarding food is that I thought the chiffles would be fresh, but seemed like it was the regular stuff you can buy at the grocery store. Still tasty, but for the price and quality of everything else there, I would prefer freshly fried chips.
A ladies room would be nice, but it seems like many establishments here have only unisex restrooms. Thank goodness, it was clean, but I still prefer at least one for just women (and it’ll have a purse hook!)
Aside from that, I would still go back in a heartbeat because the overall experience is wonderful.
The staff is very fun and sweet, especially Jay at the bar.
Keep up the good work 🙂
Our server, Amazing (her name!), was truly amazing and very friendly, speaking with us about her home in Peru. We each got a classic pisco sour, exactly as you would get in Peru. Light, citrusy, and refreshing.
We ordered some ceviche, which was very fresh and super flavorful. We also ordered the beef skewers, which were very tender and had great spices on them, complemented with some roasted potatoes. The green cilantro garlic sauce they served with everything was to die for, I could have just eaten it by itself. Then we shared the Arroz con Mariscos, similar to a paella. Oh, soooo good! They surprised us with a fabulous coconut and citrus flan for dessert. All the dishes were beautifully presented and expertly executed. We will come back to this place next time we’re in New Orleans for sure!
Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Answered all of our questions. The ceviche was incredible, so tangy and delicious! The pollo saltado was more like aciete saltado…hahah but equally tasty (just wish it wasn’t as oily!). The potatoes were so crispy and the chicken was tender. Would definitely come back!
I’d never had Peruvian food before so wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was very pleased with our experience. We ordered steak anticuchos (skewers) with aji panca, aioli potatoes, and chimichuri sauce; quinoa salad (bursting with flavor); duck confit with cilantro rice; and tigre de leche ceviche. We would order everything again. We also tucked into an array of desserts: mango crème brûlée, suspiro lemeño (I thought it was a little too sweet but the person who ordered it said it was his favorite of our desserts), and picarones (sweet potato donuts). The mango was my favorite but we enjoyed everything.
Service was outstanding and the atmosphere was cosy on a cold night.
