Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had.
The staff’s attitude was cold and disrespectful. There was no sense of welcome at all — it felt like being a customer was a problem. There is also no proper parking available, and it’s unclear where customers are supposed to park.
The biggest issue, however, was the food quality. The bread was dry and burnt. The rice was bland, without salt, and not even properly cooked. The kebab was overloaded with spices to the point that you couldn’t even taste the meat. The mantu was falling apart and completely tasteless — we honestly lost our appetite.
With prices this high, this level of quality is unacceptable. If you cannot provide proper food, please don’t overpromise in your advertising.
Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. I will not be coming back and would not recommend it to others.

I was very disappointed with my recent to-go order from Timorian Afghan Restaurant. Having eaten at many similar restaurants, I’m familiar with the usual standards for portion size, food quality, and basic takeout essentials, and this experience fell far short.
The packaging was messy, and the portions were extremely small—especially the chickpea side and the rice. I have photos that clearly show how minimal and poorly presented the food was. On top of that, no utensils, napkins, white sauce, or chutney were provided. These are standard items that virtually every Afghan restaurant includes, and not having them made the meal even more frustrating. I could have just as easily been eating somewhere that provided none of the essentials needed for a proper takeout experience.
Even more concerning was the quality of the food itself. I ordered koobideh, lamb chops, and chicken kabob, and all three were poor in taste and quality. The meat had an unpleasant smell and flavor, and it was obvious that it was not fresh.
Between the sloppy packaging, tiny portions, missing essentials, and very poor food quality, this experience was unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant unless significant improvements are made.

The moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the owner. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the lamb karahi and Uzbeki pulao, both bursting with flavor and clearly made fresh. Many restaurants tend to serve reheated dishes near closing hours, but that wasn’t the case here. Everything tasted freshly cooked.

The service was excellent, the staff even offered us a complimentary soda, which we really appreciated. My only suggestion would be to enhance the atmosphere a bit, perhaps by adding some background music or soft instrumental tunes. It felt slightly awkward eating in complete silence and hearing every conversation or cough around.

Overall, I genuinely hope this place succeeds. Highly recommend giving it a try. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Parking is free for 2 hours via pango app. Lamb and ground beef are delicious, as well as all of the complimentary sides. Will have to order the ice cream next time. Was given a sample, and it was lovely with a cardamom flavor.

I visited Timorian before when it had the previous owner, and I recently came back after the new management took over. I can honestly say there is a big difference. The new owner, Abdul Bari, and the staff were very welcoming and kind, and the customer service was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere felt much nicer. The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. You can really tell the new management cares about quality and about their customers. I know there are older reviews from before, but the restaurant now has new ownership and truly deserves another chance. I definitely recommend people come try the food and experience the improvements themselves!

A new neighborhood restaurant with a large menu featuring lots of choices for a lamb lover. The grilled lamb chops were thick and tender and nicely seasoned. The lamb and chicken Kabob combo was a good way to sample both meats, accompanied by rice with carrots and raisins. Parking is available, but if you don’t drive, the bus stop is just a few feet away.

Hands down worse afghan food I’ve had in this area. I’ve had Afghan food all over the DMV and was by far the worse tasting and most expensive. Afghan burger? It’s all French fries and a small piece of what look like halal hot dog I’m sure.
Beef kobeda kabob? Worst flavor and dry. Very unfortunate I do NOT recommend this place save your money. Instead go next street over to Kabob Express.

This review is for the owner of the restaurant. Please pay good attention in your restaurant. Not happy with your service, food quality and especially customer service and one more important thing is that cleanliness. We came in group of 6 people last night, and we all walked out with sad faces. First, the food quality was terrible. The Lamb chops were terrible and I was so disappointed with the meat that you guys used for Quabili Palaw, we all know those meats smell bad , frozen and where you get them. Please at least use fresh meats for Quabili plow. We spent $290 and felt really disappointed with our decision going to your restaurant. Second thing, the bolani were full of oil, I would strongly recommend use some good quality flour so you can cook good quality Bolani. Third thing, please pay attention to your kitchen cleanliness and your employees. Don’t make your customers feel uncomfortable asking for something that they need!
