My friend and I left Cincinnati on a girls trip to South Bend and found this adorable independently owned restaurant, Thyme of Grace. We fell in love with it and the mom and daughter team Instantly ❤️ the atmosphere was warm, charming and artsy the food was creative and AMAZING, and made with beautiful ingredients such love and care goes into everything they do‼️ We will be back for sure❣️

Thyme of Grace is an excellent place to have a very nice 4 course lunch. Michelle and Nicole are very friendly and knowledgeable about food and it’s preparation and presentation. They make use of their home grown edible greens, herbs and flowers in all of their dishes that they serve. The appetizers are excellent with a concentration on flavor and presentation. The bacon wrapped dates are great. The soups a very flavorful with some unusual combinations, such as the superb mushroom and hazelnut soup. The main course ranges from unusual sandwiches to chicken salad with many variations each time you get it to quiches to many different salads. The deserts are truly decadent. The cheesecake is wonderful and different. The orange cheesecake with a cream sauce topping is great. It was made with fresh Clementine oranges.
Even though they are only open from 11 to 2, plan on more than an hour for your meal.
Thyme of Grace is truly an “Upscale Dining Experience”.
We will be back when in town.

I want to thank the owner for her kindness. My 90 yr old grandma called her to see if she could deliver her food all the way on the West side of South Bend. She drove over 25 minutes to take her food and didn’t charge her a delivery fee. My grandma really enjoyed the soups. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Such a darling little gem in South Bend. Amazing, original menu items that are creative and so very fresh and well prepared. A charming, eclectic atmosphere. An absolute must try for lunch! They are cash only but well worth it!

Love coming to this place. The Lemon tarts are awesome! Although you shouldnt try them because that means less lemon tarts for me 🙂 Thyme of Grace is always my family’s first pick for special meals out. Have never had anything but great lunches. Service is great, too.

I can only echo other positive reviews for this restaurant: It is wonderful!! Unique, flavorful dishes – caring, attentive service. I live in Ohio, but every time I visit South Bend, I will be sure to have one or more meals at this sweet little restaurant. I’ll also echo the reminder to bring cash or check. We’re not used to that, but your meal will be worth the effort!

So I really WANTED to like this place–was hoping for a great girlfriend regular lunch spot–but I couldn’t. First, they don’t take credit cards. Only cash and checks. By a FLUKE I had my checkbook in my purse (to write a check at the church office that afternoon). Otherwise I never carry my checkbook and rarely have cash. My friend panicked but scrounged and found cash in her car. She only brought in a credit card. What if we hadn’t seen that on the bottom of the menu before we ate and ordered? (WASHING DISHES!) Next, this was pricey, I think, for lunch. Especially if we wanted to do lunch more than once a month. Some tea type drinks were $4!!!! I ordered the special of the day–crustless quiche (I am gluten free). It was watery and not very tasty. The texture was off. Maybe they microwaved it? It came with a side of extremely (like, zing!) slaw. The dishes are garnished with fresh flowers and all sorts of inedible greens. Cute, but I’d rather have another bite or two of food with the attention on it, not the garnish. The service was okay. Note: parking is not easy. There is immediate street parking with a 15 minute limit. A bit up there is street parking with a 1 hour limit. Next door, unmarked, is some sketchy diagonal parking in the gas station lot. Nothing is marked as parking for Thyme of Grace. I will not go back 🙁
