The Wooden Match is truly a gem in Historic Downtown Bethlehem. The building’s rich history as the old Bethlehem Station gives it a unique charm—you can feel the legacy in every brick. I’ve been here a few times, and the vibes are always great, especially when there’s outdoor music. Today, they had live jazz inside, and it was phenomenal. I tried the burger flight, and wow—the meat was delicious, the chips were thick and crispy, and everything was full of flavor. The service was excellent too—our waiter was friendly and super helpful. Highly recommend!

Overall: a good idea in a unique and historic location, but the experience lacks polish.

Food: outstanding, delicious, well prepared. No notes.

Service: extremely slow. At first I thought it was intentional to match the pace of cigar smoking, but that clearly wasn’t the case by the end of the meal. There several failures to bring requested items like forks or sauces. Asked for lemon with our waters. The lemon didn’t come out with the water, it came out 5 minutes afterwards in a bowl. Why? We got our cigars, but the ash trays didn’t come out for a few minutes so we had to wait to light up.

Atmosphere: the interior is definitely neat, but it’s cramped and a bit noisy. Not really the vibe you want for a chill cigar and dinner. The patio is a fun concept, being right on the rails, but there Porta-Johns visible and a parking lot right under you. Not scenic.

Cigar selection: it was fine. Plenty of options. However the humidor was cramped and we had to ask to even see it. You’re supposed to order off a cigar menu, but the menu wasn’t up to date and it had little to no info on the cigar choices.

In summary, next time I want to have a well-made burger and smoke a cigar outside on a patio in a quiet, atmosoheric, scenic location… I’m just going to do it in my back yard.

The Wooden Match is a cigar bar & grill located on Lehigh St. in Bethlehem. They are open Mon – Tue 4PM – 12AM and Wed – Sun 12PM – 12AM.

My last visit was this past Thursday. My buddy and I stopped in around 2PM and had the whole place to ourselves.

I started with fatman scoop; hoss pierogies, cooper sharp, shaved ribeye, red wine demi glaze, caramelized onions, and one over easy egg. Absolutely amazing!

I then moved onto the angry birds. They were served wet, crispy, and delicious. The hot-n-honey sauce packed quite the punch.

Last but not least, The feast of St. Eugene; seasoned ribeye, caramelized onions, Gruyère, Egypt Star Bakery French bread, au jus, and horseradish aioli. The roll was fresh, the meat was tender, and the au jus and horseradish aioli complimented it perfectly. Top tier!

The Wooden Match has Indoor and outdoor seating. Pickup and delivery are both available.

Lunch specials Wed – Sun 12PM – 3PM.

Cool place. We tried it because of a coupon I bought from clipp. We sat in the basement because it had less cigar smoke…we were actually the only couple down there. It was warm and so pretty. My Husband and I both enjoyed our meal. Our server did seem to forget about us at the end…we werent checked on for about 15-20 mins which was nice because we didn’t feel rushed like in most restaurants but would have sucked if we wanted a drink refill. Definitely worth a try.

Overall great place that we will go to again. The quality of the meals and cocktails was wonderful and the outdoor seating is great. On Sundays they have open mic night and it was nice to enjoy on a beautiful day outside. The staff was very nice. Giving only 4 stars due to the speed of service and accuracy of order. We had ordered an appetizer that we never received and our server thought we ordered chips instead of fries with our entree. It took awhile for us to actually place an order and once we did it took about an hour + for the food to arrive. Again, food was great and will come again, but will probably keep in mind not to have plans right after in case the speed of service is similar to what we experienced.

Huge disappointment this past Monday.
I spoke so highly of this place to a few friends to come in Monday and first realize there was no music outside. We asked the waitress before deciding to stay and she says yes they will have live music 7-9. We decided as a group to stay being it was 6pm.
1st, we did not get our drinks until 6:40ish and appetizers until 7:30. Yes, it took this long to get our food and when we finally did, we just packed up and left being it was 8pm. The waitress had served, offered and refilled EVERY other table around except us. When we called just the ONE time for Ranch, she continued to bring others things and checking them out to the point we had to make our way inside and find out for ourselves it was Trivia night. It was never live music night and pick up refills and Ranch ourself. The food was spectacular as always!! And we wanted to give the waitress the benefit of the doubt being she seemed to be the only one, but after seeing everyone else taken care of, we realized it was apparently us she had an issue with? Unsure why because we really didn’t ask for anything at all other than why was it so quiet outside and no music (to which she also smiled and never responded). Anyway, food was spectacular as always and hopefully things will change for a future visit because my husband and I really like this place.

Fun restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining, Jenga and the evening they were there they had live music. Excellent service, other than the hosts that appeared and acted bored and were not all friendly nor inviting. Well timed service between drinks, starters and the meal. Everything was tasty and well prepared, we’ll definitely be back.

They know what they’re doing with this tasty menu. The upscale pub food is unique, yummy and guarantees a return visit. Excellent service. Cigar bar so it is definitely smoky. I was very happy when a server opened the door. Sadly, the fans weren’t enough but they offer outdoor seating and there is a downstairs that we didn’t visit. No clue if the downstairs is non-smoking. I didn’t ask. The exterior needs some love and the inside could use a better painter, but the high top seating was comfortable, even for this old lady. A variety of live music. The building is over 150 yrs old, a Central Railroad of NJ/CNJ building. I’m sure there is great history about it, yet it is nowhere to be found. Some old photos in the decor help tell the story, but we would have loved to read about it on the menu, on the website, or a printed handout. We will definitely return. There is no denying this little gem in Bethlehem.

The food and service are very enjoyable. The music is best when the outdoor seating is open during the warmer months. Sometimes, their chicken is a bit dry, but it really depends on the day, so that might be because they are crowded and things are sitting under lamps waiting for servers. (The last time it was dry, there was also a 45-minute wait for people to be seated, which is why I think that might be the case.)
