Despite it’s alleyway location, The Cozy Taberna is actually a very nice and classy place that specializes in Spanish food (that’s Spanish as in Spain, not Mexico).

A few unrelated people recommended Cozy Taberna so we went with high hopes. They didn’t disappoint. We selected to dine at the bar overlooking the open kitchen. This allowed us not only to enjoy the food but to fully watch the preparation. We enjoyed the sprouts, spinach, Moroccan brick chicken and steak, each having unique preparation and flavors . The spinach with an essence of pine was particularly good. Save room for the chocolate molten cake. They also have a nice cocktail list and wine by the glass. The service staff was great. Enjoy!

A must-return experience. Sat by the chefs who showcased their talent. We shared the britt’ny salad, pork chop and fresh brioche. Had two amazing desserts: the tarts (very authentic) and the chocolate lava (huge portion). Service was friendly, atmosphere was casual yet classy, and the food cooked to perfection. Main chef took pride in every plate that left her kitchen, putting a special touch. I even saw her send back dishes if they weren’t to her standards. Love that she cared about the work of her team and wanted to provide a good representation of their efforts. Will definitely return!

Made a reservation here after a few repeat recommendations from locals. We sat at the bar by the kitchen to watch the chefs on action and it made us wish we could have eaten here twice on our trip so we could try more menu items. Our favorite dish was the squid ink pasta. We came in around 4:30pm so we were lucky enough to arrive during happy hour. Definitely recommend coming during happy hour because there are lots of great dishes on discount. We also loved the olives starter. The spices they add to the oil is so delicious. The flat iron steak was cooked perfectly but be warned that almost every shishito pepper was too spicy for me. The patatas bravas came with a sauce underneath and on top. Those flavors combined were wonderful. If we came again we would try the scallops and the pork chop. We saw those come up for other tables and were super jealous. We will have to find another excuse to come back and visit Salem.

On Friday night, 4/14/23, we had booked a Chef’s Table reservation for 2 at 6:30pm and were seated (Kitchen 11). We had an absolutely incredible experience! We heard that the sous had recently quit, and we had the pleasure of watching Chef Brittni and the amazing kitchen team handle the busy service that night. We ordered the bone marrow, the squid ink pasta (INSANE and loved the addition of hazelnuts), pork chop, riot roll (we almost grabbed two to go–we asked Chef what was in that honey and I can’t even remember due to food coma). We were so amazed by the professionalism and attention to detail–the service was so polished and beautiful. We know that is hard to achieve, especially when it’s a busy night. We probably overstayed but we completely lost track of time and couldn’t bring ourselves to leave!

The cozy taberna is one of my favorite restaurants in Salem. Their menu is tapas style and a great place to order multiple different dishes and share. Although I go here quite frequently, I’ve only managed to take one photo of the food but it’s hard to go wrong with anything on their menu. The atmosphere is great, service is great and they have some very delicious cocktails. I do recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekends because they fill up fast.

The most attentive server ever! I wish I remembered her name. She walked by our table and noticed that my partners whiskey sour had no egg whites as he ordered it & offered to take it back to the bar & have it remade. Food is always cooked well. Flavors are immaculate

My husband and I loved the Cozy Taberna! We just popped in on a Friday night (next time we’ll make reservations) and found a spot at the bar. The old fashioned’s were spot on, appetizers delish and the goat cheese dumplings were amazing. The service was fun and the vibe of the restaurant will definitely bring us back.

The Cozy Taberna is spendy, but worth it! The warmed olives were delicious, as was everything else we tried (especially their gin and tonics)! I had the squid ink pasta for dinner and it was quite an experience. I’ve never tasted anything with that flavor profile before. It wasn’t my favorite pasta ever but I enjoyed it nonetheless (it was a bit too spicy for me).

The place had a great atmosphere. We were greeted at the door and seated right away since we had reservations at the chefs counter. I would definitely recommend sitting at the chefs counter because you can see how fast and detail oriented they are about getting the dishes out. Since we sat there, we wanted to try everything
