A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Sussex County!
The Walpack Inn is an absolute treasure—one of those rare places where time slows down and you’re reminded of how special a great meal and a beautiful setting can be. From the moment you arrive, the rustic charm and peaceful surroundings set the tone for a truly memorable dining experience.
The food is consistently excellent. Every dish we’ve had—whether it’s the perfectly cooked prime rib, the fresh seafood, or the hearty soups—has been full of flavor and generously portioned. The salad bar is legendary and truly one of the best around: fresh, diverse, and thoughtfully maintained.
What really makes The Walpack Inn stand out is the atmosphere. The glass-enclosed dining room offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and often deer can be seen grazing nearby. It’s peaceful, cozy, and somehow manages to feel both upscale and welcoming.

We are still open! The outside view of the mountains with the deer coming up the hill right outside your window is breathtaking . The food is delicious , and the service is outstanding . It’s worth the ride . Come visit us !! We are open Friday, Saturday and Sundays !! Walk ins welcome !

Every time we come here, we are never disappointed. The food is exquisite, the service and atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. The view of the property is beautiful. Whether you’re here with one person or your whole family, there is something on the menu for everyone. And the portions are filling. I’d suggest making reservations, because it does get busy depending on the day. Absolutely worth it.

Came here for dinner, reservations for 2. After a short wait we were sat at a nice table with an outside view. I enjoyed a ribeye cooked as I asked and my wife had the prime rib. The food was good, service was also good. I would recommend this place for a nice night out. It is a little of the beaten path but Google maps took us right there. Enjoy!!

I have been waiting years to dine at the Walpack Inn, & my Fiancé & I had the most amazing experience thanks to Joanne. She delivered the best service & had us smiling the entire night. The food & ambiance was impeccable & we can not wait to return. Thank you for everything & the view was also an experience in itself, we loved seeing the deers.

I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for 1 reason. The food. Service was great, a young man who constantly checked on us and helped with anything we needed! Atmosphere was cozy and delightful, as we had a window seat where we could watch the deer in the rain. Loved the plants hanging all throughout.
Now, what I think we all want to know. The food was mediocre at best. Rigatoni and chicken- plain, unseasoned chicken that wasn’t even cut all the way through. Another pasta dish was already $30 without the $16 add-on of 4 individual shrimp(plain as well) The pasta is definitely not the way to go. If youre thinking you can save yourself from spending $57 on a 8oz steak by ordering the pork, just make sure it’s not pink inside.
Truthfully, I’d only recommend two items off the menu.
1. The pulled pork sandwich was way worth the $16
2. The dip hoagie was pretty good
