Looking for a place close to home we bumped into The Tavern at St Michael’s Square. A pub like environment, we found the service to be friendly with our server Kayla being the sweetest. We began with drinks and beer battered mushrooms. A nice beginning to over dinner. Wifey went with the salad followed by the margarita pizza. The pizza surprisingly was delicious. Highly recommend. I had the Mac n cheese with short ribs. M & C was somewhat lacking taste. Short ribs was a little dry but edible. All in all we enjoyed our evening at The Tavern at St Michael’s Square. Isn’t that what it’s all about? A 4.5 experience!

This place was top notch. The waitress Aly was very sweet and helped out even when we could not decide was we wanted. The bourbon glazed burger was amazing.
The fish and chips that I had was wonderful. It could have used a batter that was just a hair thicker, or maybe fried just a hair longer. When you put the fish in the sauce it broke apart.
Thank you to this place as the chips were great with the fish and the burger. Also had cheese curds.
To top it all off my wife wanted some of their ranch dressing to take home and she got two big to go bowls of it. They did not even stress.

The bottomless mimosas here are top tier! The refills were so quick and they have a variety of mimosas to choose from. We got the cheese curds and they basically melt in your mouth. We got the taco pizza and the half order of fish and chips, both were delicious! We found the portions to be good size and filled us up. Will definitely be back again.

First time visitor. Ole Fashioned was very good, as was the meats pizza. Surprisingly good pub like vibe. TVs with ball games on was also nice.

Arrived Friday at 11am just as they opened. We were seated quickly and our food was made to order specifications. The food is really good. We had the club and bacon cheeseburger. The kids meal Mac and cheese. No major complaints. They sat us on the bar side with the bartender waiting the tables on that side. That did not work out for us as after our food came we never got another refill until we asked for our check. Outside of that, great place.

My friend and I stopped here for lunch, specifically because they were accepting dogs on their patio. We were in the area from out of town for a dog event, and this place was perfect. We ordered the artichoke dip as an appetizer, loved that it came with veggies and chips. We ordered a burger patty and chicken breast for the dogs’ lunch, and they accommodated not seasoning them for the dogs! My friend and I both got fish and chips, the fries were amazing, and so was the fish! I loved the rootbeer, and would totally stop by here to eat again next time I’m in the area.

I have been to The Tavern twice and I am sad to say I was dissapointed both times. The first time I went I ordered a margherita pizza which was not cooked all the way or cut all the way through, so I had to cut through a very doughy pie to get my slices. The tomatoes were not sliced but diced, which could be a personal preference, but the basil was chopped and, I’m assuming, cooked with the pie leaving it as just a thought and not as a centerpiece of a two topping pizza. Also, for $16.50, I was expecting a bit more pizza or something with higher quality.
The second time I went in I ordered a cubano, which ended up being more dissapointing than the pizza I had previously. If there was mustard on this sandwich I couldn’t tell, but I could definitely tell there was globs of mustard seeds on top of the cheese and mixed with the flavorless and dry pulled pork. The mustard seed made the sandwich very bitter and did not blend well with anything else on the sandwich. The cappiculo, not ham, that sat on top of everything was too hard and the flavor was too overpowering for a simple dish like a cuban. There was no sign of mojo, the signature marinade in a cuban sandwich, which left me wanting. All of this combined with the fact that this sandwich had to be eaten open faced because of the plating made me very dissapointed. I don’t expect every restaurant to have a plancha in the back but the least they could have done was toast it or pop it in a panini press for a few seconds. The fries were decent.
I also tried both of the mushrooms appetizers, choriza stuff and beer battered, and found them both to be uninspired and bland. The chorizo stuffed mushrooms were overcooked, leaving them flavorless and tough and the pepperjack cheese sauce on top did nothing for the dish but cover up how dry the chorizo was. The sauce had no flavor and I could not tell there was pepperjack. The beer battered mushrooms served only as a vehicle for the sauce as they had no flavor either. There is an earthiness that is desired in a mushroom dish and the fact that there was no flavor points to either low quality ingredients or a lack of cooking ability.
The drink menu is very good. They have a very healthy selection of cocktails and beers so if you’re looking for a spot to have a drink this would be a good place. If you’re looking for good food I would go somewhere else.
The Tavern at St. Michael’s Square has a very nice decor, though a bit bright inside for a tavern, and plenty of televisions to watch while you’re dining. The drinks are cheap and plentiful but the food is lacking, which after looking at the other reviews seems to be a common notion.
