I’ve ordered takeaway/delivery from here many times and enjoyed it a lot. Tonight was my first night dining and it was even better as the food was piping hot. So many vegetarian and vegan options not just paneer. The best part about their dals and curries is that they’re seasoned and spiced very well without feeling too heavy, oily or creamy. Everything is light, fresh and full of flavour especially their broccoli, cauli, cavalo Nero Curry. They accommodated 7 of us at a one hour notice on a very busy evening.

Had a fantastic meal with 2 friends. Most tasty and delicious curry I’ve had in a very long time. Spice level just right, great depth of flavour. Staff very friendly. The owner came and had a chat with us which was great. Can’t wait to return.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Oxfordshire, perfectly located in front of the cinema at Jericho and a local pub. Its food is consistently a cut above the rest, I always go for the lamb chops either as a starter or main. Today I tried the king prawn puri as a starter which was a very generous portion served with juicy chunks of king prawn, perfectly cooked, with a beautiful tangy sauce. Next came the lamb chops as a main and I opted for the cabbage thoran as a side, it was my first time trying the latter and it is truly delicious. Don’t miss The Standard if you are out and about in Jericho, the lovely friendly staff and the food are well worth it!

A restaurant doesn’t get a half century under it’s belt without having something under it’s belt, and visiting The Standard again after many years away didn’t disappoint.
The place is a bit brighter and more modern than when I was last there, but it’s still a traditional curry house at heart. But it is certainly one that is elevated from it’s old school roots. Fabulous, friendly, efficient service, mixed with good portions of really tasty food made for a good meal.
For me, I am going to make sure it isn’t so long between visits in future.

Food was really tasty! We really loved the varied curry that the restaurant served. Tikka chicken Briyani was one of our most favorite dish. The rice was very fragrant and flavoured with the spice, making it very flavourful. The curry that accompanied it complements the food perfectly.

We also ordered the Madras King Prawn Curry with a Garlic and Coriander Naan. It is decently spicy, and the curry was even tastier than the curry for Briyani. We really loved the food. Very high quality!

We were quite disappointed at how slow the service was even though there were only 2 customers in the restaurant that day. Front of house was busy attending to reservations and calls, and took very long to take our orders. The other customer had to wait quite a while for the FOH to be free to have his main course served. Other staff could have helped with the workload. Nevertheless, he was very apologetic and friendly throughout.

Ordered takeaway chicken tikka masala and it was the strangest tikka masala I’ve had. It was very sweet and the texture was gritty. Not at all what I expected and would not recommend. My spouse ordered lamb madras and it was “just okay. The sauce was runny with no noticeable fresh spice or pieces of veggies.” The rice was was great but we made it at home.

Best Indian food I have had since living in India! Lots of nice vegetarian and vegan options (but the prawn dishes are wonderful too)

An excellent Indian restaurant.

An excellent Indian restaurant.

The dishes were delicious, spicy. We loved them very much.

The mango dip – Amaba was superbly made properly! Required! Nan bread was hot and fresh.

Excellent, professional, fast and courteous service.

Going to the UK, besides Fish & Chips, you must eat Indian Food. It can be north or south Indian cuisines, generally (in my personal opinion) it cannot go wrong. The Standard is certainly within expectation.

I savour every moment of it. I let the pictures do the communication.

Would I revisit The Standard? Definitely! But, one word of advice, do make reservation days in advance. If not, unless you start your dinner at 5.30pm, you will not be able to get a space.
