First time here. I searched for a “different” restaurant as I traveled to a vendor. This place caught my eye.
I’m glad I stopped for lunch. Their soup & half sandwich gives you a good meal. First thing is that the 1/2 and 1/2 usually includes s cup of soup… not here! You get the whole bowl. Seeing yhe Angry Biscuit line on the wall begged the question. It is a Mashup stack of hash browns, biscuit and whatnot to give you a meal that stands tall. I just wanted to try a biscuit and it was fresh and warm. Served with peach & strawberry jam plus a few pats of butter. Delicious is the result.
Their lentil soup hit the spot and complemented the 1/2 of turkey sandwich. If I am ever in that area again, that is where I will have lunch!

First time visit. Definitely worth a try. Food was delicious. Came out relatively fast for how busy it was on a Sunday morning. Wait time wasn’t too bad. Attentive waiter.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The restaurant was almost empty (maybe four or five tables), yet my order of chicken and waffles took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. When it finally came, the chicken was extremely dry.
I politely mentioned this to the waitress, and she said she’d get the manager. Instead of coming himself, the manager first sent her back with word of a “small discount.” I told her I didn’t even want the food. Only then did the manager come over—and he was shockingly rude. He accused me of lying, even after I showed him the dried-out chicken. His response was to offer making me another dish, but when I explained I didn’t have another 45 minutes to wait, he dismissively said, “Not my problem.”
To make matters worse, when I asked his name, he told me it was “Joe.” I believe one of the owners. An older gentleman with gray hair and a beard—unprofessional and dishonest.
Terrible food, and an even worse attitude from management. Save yourself the time and frustration—go anywhere else. In the end he still made me pay for half the dish.

Food was ok, needed salt for my skirt steak skillet… asked for medium but got well done. My husband got the brisket skillet, it was good, grits were runny but the flavor was good, the pancakes are dry as all out and not flavorful, y’all need to add some vanilla abstract and sugar or something… the greens tasted like….. NOTHING, I do not recommend the collard greens if you are a season person and actually southern, this ain’t southern. Raspberry lemonade is good, the mimosa was $11. The drinks to me are high.. Presentation was on point and you do get enough food to get comfortably full with left overs. Service was good, this place is nice and cozy but I would love for them to flavor their food better.

My hubby and I stumbled across The Southern Cafe after spending the weekend in Schaumburg, and what a gem! We were craving something that felt more homemade and less like a typical chain—and this spot did not disappoint.
I ordered the catfish jalapeño & cheddar grits, and let me just say… delicious! So flavorful, creamy, and with just the right kick.
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The service was average nothing amazing. Its only about a 10 minute drive from Schaumburg, so it’s perfect for a quick getaway from the busy mall area.
But whether you’re local or just passing through, The Southern Cafe is definitely worth the stop.

I happen to drive by and it did not disappoint I had one of their specials the eggs Benedict with a fried tomato and it was amazing. There’s a lot of other things on the menu but I’ll definitely have to go back and try.

This place used to be amazing! And today it was 0/5 stars, the girls at the front would rather talk to each other than work. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks (2 Carmel lattes) and took an additional 40 minutes to get our food. The BLT which is suppose to be “layered” with bacon was more of a tomato sandwich. We did not even drink the coffee, it just tasted like milk and our iced coffee was served to us luke warm… the service was not great today either, our waiter did not check on us once and it was just honestly a waste of money to come here.

Too loud!!!! Food is too expensive for it’s average to not so great quality! We both ordered the biscuits n gravy. The big doughy biscuit was softball sized. The gravy was tasty but not enough gravy to choke down the biscuit. Ordered 2 poached eggs. Not properly drained, I had egg yolk soup! So our total bill was 48.00 for a breakfast. Then the insult upon the story. They add 2% to our bill should we use a credit card. Sorry Southern Cafe, we won’t be back. Your just too expensive for mediocre. Felt bad for the waitress who was so helpful, respectful and considerate. I wanted to give my usual 20% based on the Total bill. Just can’t do that anymore.
