The Salt Line Bethesda

  4.0 – 35 reviews   • Seafood restaurant

Building on the success of The Salt Line (DC), Longshot Hospitality is thrilled to open its third The Salt Line in the heart of Bethesda on Bethesda Row. The Salt Line combines the spirit of a New England Style Raw Bar and Seafood House with the bounty of the Chesapeake and the energy of the Nation’s Capital. The original The Salt Line, in the bustling DC Navy Yard neighborhood, has established itself as one of the best & busiest restaurants in DC, and the newest TSL is looking to bring the same to Bethesda! Both neighborhood go-to and special occasion dining destination, TSL has received numerous accolades including three stars from Tom Sietsema, 2019 Rammy for Chef of the Year to Kyle Bailey, and 2020 Rammy for Favorite Gathering Place.

Service was a bit slower than we would’ve liked but the food and oysters were great! Also good wine. Nice ambience. Will come back for half priced oysters

Great service, food was fine dining worthy, and I loved the signature cocktails. The waitress was very firendly and provided great recommendations on the choice of entrées and drinks. Parked in the garage across the street.

I don’t often leave bad reviews, but this place burned me. I love the DC and VA locations, but I will not be coming back to Bethesda Salt Line after my last experience. I took my mom here for a nice lunch and after paying for us and leaving a generous cash tip, a few days later I noticed that my card had been charged the bill plus an ADDITIONAL 25%. I called the restaurant and asked the manager to please check the receipts, as my card had been charged “x” amount more than it was supposed to. She said she would call me back in a few minutes… like 30 minutes later I got not a call but a text message that I was refunded $XX. The tip amount that they had overcharged my card. No apology. Nothing else. I asked for a copy of the receipt and did not get that either.

Really wanted to love this place. Food was ok. Everything lacked seasoning, was either over cooked or under seasoned. They also need more oyster options.

The food and drinks were solid however the service was lack luster. We ordered two entrees both of which took over an hour and a half to get to the table. I assume the order got lost as the restaurant was very busy and in its first week since opening. The late timing is extremely forgivable due to the circumstances and my party and I were very understanding. Our server (who granted was very sweet) told us that her manager would buy us the entrees since the food took so long. When we received the bill both of our entrees were still on the receipt. We were willing to pay the full amount but I brought it up the discrepancy with our server since she had mentioned that the entrees would be comped. After asking the waiter, the manager came over and rudely asked if we didn’t want to pay for our food. Of course we were planning on paying however we only mentioned comping the entrees because of what the server had said earlier. After explaining this, he took 50% off of the entrees. All of this being said it was probably a communication error. The food was great, our waiter was very apologetic, but the way the manager approached us felt a bit negative.

From the moment we arrived the experience was absolutely first rate! Obvious personal attention and leadership went into the training and sense of urgency displayed by the whole staff. Herman, our server was personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. The boss Paul came to our table and spent a few minutes with us, even on a busy Friday night!
