Stopped on the way back from visiting our daughter at the University of Alabama and we were pleasantly surprised. Chicken was moist and the ribs were flavorful. The BBQ sauce is amazing. Great people and a fantastic hole in the wall atmosphere. Ask about field greens.

This is the best bbq restaurant in Meridian! The food quality is fresh, the food is always flavorful, ribs are so tender, the side dishes remind you of your grandmothers cooking amazing, and the deserts are immaculate. The staff are so welcoming and give southern hospitality 100%. The owner loves his job and never forgets a face. The lovely ladies who are always working are so loving and make you feel at home. I love how supportive to the community they are! Love this place so much and always get excited coming back.

I’ll preface by saying that the pork ribs were pretty good and their BBQ sauce is good. The pork ribs definitely could’ve been a lot more tender, though. The beef ribs have an uncharge of $2 to add to the pick 2 or pick 3 plates. They had NO MEAT on them. And the brisket simply was sub par, at best- there is also a $2 upcharge for brisket. Unfortunately, $80 was spent and we were not impressed. The okra was phenomenal, though. They also shorted me a rib.

Mmmm Mmmm SO SO GOOD!!! Ribs done RIGHT! We were driving from Texas to Georgia and did not was fast food…what a find!
Service was friendly and fast, and the food was excellent! The potato salad was very very good, and the okra was hot and made fresh!

The Rib Shack is a small, friendly gem. The food was excellent, well worth the trip. My wife had the pork rib tips, field peas, and fried okra. I had the 2 meat 2 side plate (beef ribs, sausage, baked beans, and potato salad) with a great glass of sweet tea to wash it all down.

Yet another fee that charges a fee (3.5%) for the convenience of using a credit or debit card. Service was not good as they make you feel like you’re asking for free food or some sort of handout. The food was good though. The prices were high for the portions. They should be making a lot of profit at those price points plus the extra fee they charge. Good for today. But will not be returning.

This is coming from a Louisiana native…. The only thing that was decent was the pork ribs. Pulled pork tasted like it was SIMPLY BOILED IN WATER, taken out of the water then plated and the bbq sauce didn’t save it at all. Wasn’t seasoned at all. I also got the Mac and cheese and it also had NO flavor. Just mushy noodles and cheese. Baked beans tasted too much like yams, not sure if that makes sense. But there was a lot of brown sugar in them. Cornbread was very dry and hard and if you like “sweet” cornbread then this isn’t it. Also had 2 smoked sausage links and they did have a snap when you bit it but besides that it was very salty. The sauce is homemade and was probably the highlight of my meal. I had a total of 3 ribs and only one of them was edible because of how tender it was. But the others must’ve been from a different batch. So overall I wouldn’t eat this place again unless I hear that the food has gotten better ♂️
