We had an awesome meal here this evening. The food was great and the service was spectacular. They have an impressive wine selection, good cocktails, and great atmosphere. The prices were beyond reasonable. The desserts (we had three) were excellent as well. We’ll be visiting again soon for sure.

Heavenly! Beautiful, intimate atmosphere – we loved how cozy the space felt. Absolutely stunning service and even better food (we know, because we actually ate here, unlike most of these reviews!). The little cornbread muffins you get before your meal alone are worth the trip. They should sell to-go six packs of those! Would absolutely come back here whenever we’re next in the area.

To anyone not familiar with The Red Hen: in 2018, The Red Hen made national news when its owner refused to serve Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who, at the time, served as the press secretary for the Trump administration. Since then, The Red Hen has received a number of negative reviews, presumably from politically charged critics who may or may not have actually eaten at the restaurant. Note that constitutionally, the Red Hen is legally allowed to refuse service based on one’s political views.

Ignore all the bad reviews. I’m just here to talk about the food and service. The wait staff was kind and courteous and answered the questions we had about the menu. Doesn’t look like much on the outside but the inside is intimate and cozy. The decor is tasteful without being over the top. The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs preparing the food right there. The food was more on the expensive side but overall priced fairly considering this is a farm to table restaurant. I went with a party of 4 so we ordered quite a bit; soup, salads, drinks, entrees, dessert. Everything looked and tasted amazing. The service was quick and they were very attentive, checking in frequently, refilling drinks, etc. Recommend this place and will come here again.

We had an absolutely wonderful birthday dinner here today. I’ve been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while and was finally in the area. The service and food were excellent. Everything from the appetizer to the desserts was delicious. We had a delightful evening!

My wife and I ate here recently to celebrate our anniversary, and it was the best dining experience we’ve had anywhere in a while. The food was exquisite (probably the best tuna I’ve ever tasted), prepared quickly by the chefs in a very intimate atmosphere. Most ingredients are locally sourced, which is also a really nice touch and evidence of their commitment to good food and the community. The service was also excellent – we were greeted with a “Happy Anniversary” card signed by the staff and a complimentary glass of champagne. Our server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable and indicative of the style of service you receive in Europe (professional and competent without hovering over you or trying to be your best friend). This is, by some distance, the best fine dining experience in town.

Wonderful restaurant. Matt and his team have created a very special dining experience. Their use of local products, the atmosphere, quality service, and delicious courses come together to make the best restaurant in Lexington. Can’t recommend the place enough.

Ignore any poor reviews! This restaurant is small and intimate and exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. The food was well plated, very tasty, and filling. Definitely thought the price was reasonable for what we got. Would definitely dine again.
