-Pretzels and beer cheese for starts
-spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, and a burger with regular fries as the entrees.
Comparitively we preferred the sweet potato fries to the regular, so paying the extra was worth it. We did find the entire meal a bit on the pricey side for pub fair- especially bc we didn’t have any alcohol, but the food was really good and we both inhaled it.
I ordered carne asada fries but wanted the meat subbed out with adobada, cause it was on the special menu that day. She asked and said yeah we can buy it’s $2 more. Okay.. whyy? Cause there’s more meat. My total for my water and fries was $23.98..
Received the food and portion size was just to hand fulls of steak fries, then the cheese sauce was bland, there was not extra meat it was a sprinkle and I know beef is more expensive than pork.. smh I had to use that salt shaker multiple times to pallet it. The salsa verde was good tho.
She passed by and asked how it was and I told her it was over priced for what it was. Her rebuttal was “everything is made from scratch”. I asked “even the fries??” Heh
She did give me multiple lemons for my water, which I really appreciated.
I got a box to bring it home.. but on the walk to the car I asked myself why I’m even bringing it home.. I would of had to force myself to eat it.. can’t waste food, ya know.. Luckily, I passed a homeless man.
Last time we went there last week, our burger patties were burnt to a crisp and the cheese sauce for the pretzels was broken and tasted horrible. We won’t be going back. Would not recommend.
The following was from my previous review.
The PH was our go-to place before covid. Now that they have re-opened we had a little visit. We were not disappointed. With new furniture, a fresh menu, and everything fixed up, everything looked great. They have a good selection of brews and ciders for your drinking pleasure.
As for the food, they always nailed their fish so I chose their brie and garlic burger. I’d prefer more garlic because I love it but what they served was still great and a good balance for the “normal” customer. (That’s right, I’m far from normal!!)
I’m glad this little spot is back open and has the quality I expect. Oh, just a little note, they no longer have the dart board and games but they replaced it with super comfy seats and additional tables!
The Porterhouse Pub was open and had a few tables occupied, so there was no problem getting seated.
I noticed a bunch of slates with beer names and spotted a cider from Terramar advertising a Strawberry Rhubarb cider and decided I wanted to try that flavor combination. It was sweet with a little tart aftertaste.
For my meal I opted for the Porterhouse Cheese Curds as an appetizer and the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries for my main dish.
The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds.
The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty . I didn’t think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didn’t think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich. Excellent fries, but way too many for me to eat them all. I think I probably ate only 1/4 of them!!
I was very tempted to order a slice of the chocolate cheesecake with housemade fudge for dessert, but I was stuffed by my appetizer and meal.
