About a 25 minute wait on Sunday morning around 1030 for a group of 3. Very busy, but we knew that going in. Food was excellent as you’d expect. Larger groups should prepare to wait an hour during peak hours. Whole party needs to be there when seated.

What a find! Amazing food! We had the Nutella Crepes (with bananas), a peanut butter chip waffle, chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon (thick cut), and fresh orange juice!

This place has gone to hades. Not sure how they are still in business. For starters the place is absolutely filthy. Flies kept landing on our glasses, the table was dirty and there were multiple spider webs in the filthy windowsills. I glanced back into the kitchen and it was atrocious. Food and stuff spilled all over the floor. It was absolutely filthy and it was only 9am. There were also flies back there. Moving on to the food… it was repulsive. I ordered buckwheat Pancakes. They were smaller than my hands and they tasted rancid. I couldn’t eat them. Homefries were wet and mushy – absolutely disgusting and nothing like they used to be. They were also served on a TINY plate to give the appearance of a larger portion , since the plate was so small the waitresses bare hand touched the homefries. IT. WAS. NASTY. Pecan Pancakes my husband had didn’t evenTaste like real food. This place is nothing like it used to be. It is SO SAD. I highly recommend you avoid.

The Original pancake House in Woodmere, Ohio is a restaurant I have visited several times over the years. I keep going to this restaurant because the food is great. I have never ordered something and thought the food was poor. The eggs are made very well, the meats are large and satisfying, and options range from breakfast to lunch. My favorites are strawberry pancakes, Dutch Baby Pancake, the Mexican Benedict, and the fresh fruit crepes. All options are good ones. The Mexican Benedict is packed with food and is very filling.

For the pancake and crepe and waffle dishes I generally get an order of poached eggs medium on the side. Other dishes I really enjoyed over the years include the Swedish Pancakes, Three Pigs in A Blanket, banana pancakes, coconut pancakes, cherry Kifjafa crepes, banana foster French toast, and Georgia Pecan Waffle.

The atmosphere is usually quite pleasant, bustling, but not ever loud to the point of being obnoxious. The store at times is decorated by local artists’ paintings, so the decorations change. The servers themselves are generally quite nice, but sometimes are curt. The wait times can be quite long. Getting there early or going single can help with that. Also, ordering online or on the phone generally can have the food ready soon, despite a long wait in the actual restaurant.

The food itself is fantastic and the service is generally quite good. Definitely worth checking out sometime if you want a great breakfast or brunch. If you need to wait, there are several stores across the street with a mall and a Barnes and noble.

The ONLY reason I’m giving 4 stars over all is because the people at the front (youngish black lady with braids specifically) was rude. Not even to me but to a fellow guest. An older man was waiting to be seated. Party of 12. He said “15 total, 12 present, but we’re willing to NOT wait on them, and they can take whatever seating you have available when they arrive.” She had an attitude about that. Huffed and puffed. And then rudely said, “If I seat the 12, the others cannot, cannot, cannot sit with you.” The man said “I understand.” So she turns around to do other work. About 2 minutes later, she comes back and says “You can follow me.” At this time, so many people were standing up there. That man didn’t know she was talking to him so he didn’t move. She rudely let it be known that she was talking to him then got even more upset when him and his party didn’t follow quick enough. This man looked to be mid to late 60s, walked very slowly with a cane, and was very pleasant regardless of how she spoke with him. He moved slow. That appeared to annoy her.
As for the service i received, 5 . My waitress was amazing, so I’m sorry it took all of this negativity to speak on her. She was phenomenal and patient. We had several questions. We also were talking a lot to each other, so we ordered probably 30 minutes after being seated. She was 5 stars by herself.

I had a meat lovers omelette with a side of plain pancakes, it is a lot of food for the price and it was great quality. I also tasted the apple pancake and it was incredible. Staff was very nice as well.

We were wowed by the Dutch Baby and the potato pancakes! As good or better than how mom used to make. Plus they sell real Ohio maple syrup for an extra treat. They had a dish I’ve never heard of before, kosher salami and eggs, which was kind of like thin-sliced kielbasa scrambled in eggs, distinctive and delicious. The coffee is excellent, strong and balanced between dark and mellow. Service was also excellent, attentive enough but not suffocating. The pancakes, ironically, were fine but slightly tough-skinned.

Just enjoyed a very pleasant late breakfast with my wife at The Original Pancake House.
It was recommended to us by our daughter who said her kids love it.

They have an extensive menu that took 10 to 15 minutes to read. We had eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage and they came with three buttermilk pancakes per order. Frankly they had so many tempting options it was hard to choose what to order. Eggs, omelets, several kinds of breakfast meats and sides, crepes, pancakes, waffles, Belgium waffles, and much more. Pancakes and waffles came in all sorts of varieties like apple pancakes, blueberry, Dutch, pecan and more.

We arrived at 10:30 am and it was busy, but we were seated quickly. Our server was very helpful, very friendly and efficient. Wait time between our ordering and it being brought to the table was surprisingly quick.

Between their normal combos, they offer almost everything as a side item also so you can get just what you want.

Except for a plastic bag to carry our leftovers home the takehome containers, butter cups, etc where all non-plastic. Something I always appreciate.

The decore is a bit dated, but the tables and chairs were comfortable and very clean.

They seem to be well staffed.

The prices are competitive if not a bit lower. Unfortunately with inflation everything, everywhere seems to be higher than you’d expect.

Two really important caveats to eating a delicious breakfast here: 1.) The host will not seat your party until everyone is present and 2.) during busy times you may be asked to give up your table after you finish your meal.

That was my first experience eating here recently with my wife and daughter. The food was really tasty and plentiful and our server was attentive and thoughtful. I enjoyed a blueberry waffle with a side of scrambled eggs, my wife had a Dutch Baby (it was huge) with a side of two sausage links, and our daughter had an omelette with orange juice. We all had coffee. Our bill with a nice tip came to just a little more than $72.

Going back to the caveats I mentioned, make sure everyone who is dining with you is there, in the waiting area. My wife and I arrived a little before 8:30 and our daughter was running a few minutes late. The hostess would not seat us, even though there were a LOT of open tables within sight and just one other person in the waiting area who was waiting for one person to show. Our daughter arrived at 8:35 and as soon as she walked in we were seated.

We had our food within 30 minutes of our order, so around 9:00. We ate, then chatted a while until the server came to the table with our bill around 9:40, which I was able to pay on the spot. Maybe two or three minutes later a man came to our table and said, “You’re going to have to leave. We need this table.”

It was a bit abrupt and a bit shocking to us, as we were within minutes of leaving anyway, but the man never identified himself and was not pleasant at all. As we began walking out, there was no shortage of tables–eight open just in the front of the restaurant alone. We had to ask the hostess who he was: the manager. Yikes.

Apparently, there is fine print somewhere on the menu that warns diners about being asked to give up their table during busy ‘rush’ times. I found out about this after I sent a note to the corporate office about how we were treated because none of us had never been denied a table when we arrived before the rest of our party, and we had never been asked to give up our table while we were finishing up.

We will likely give this place another shot, now that we know their ‘rules’. The food and service was very good.
