Social Profile:

The Lobster Pot has been at the heart of the iconic Portland Bill since the late 1940’s in one form or another, and is still owned by the same family, now in the third generation. It is very much a part of the local community, and many Portlanders (and Kimberlins!*) have either worked at The Lobster Pot, are regular customers with their families, or indeed both. Although The Lobster Pot building may have changed since the early days, our values have remained firmly the same – the customer is at the heart of everything we do, and we strive to offer consistency, good value and excellent service always.

I had cream tea here and it was lovely. The view was so calm and relaxing – such a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere quiet with a beautiful view. ✨

Great place for a fabulous English Breakfast. If you’re there Jan to early March it’s 2 for 1! Friendly staff and a great sea view as well.

Went here with my wife for lunch. The place was very quiet. We were seated immediately and our order taken not long after. I had a sausage baguette and my wife had a bacon brie and cranberry baguette. Anyway, she loved hers. I however was not that impressed with mine. It contained three cheap sausages ! Bearing in mind these baguettes were £9.50 each, I was disappointed. I will still recommend this place as it offers great views out to sea and I’m sure other delightful food too !

The cream tea was good with a delicious scone. I believe however that the menu is too expensive for cheap cafe food and one of the waitresses was quite rude.

An absolutely lovely restaurant. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We only had coffee and cakes but the cakes were delightful. Other guests who were having full meals seemed equally pleased.

The food was good but the service was amazing. If you want something sharp or tangy, do ask for their English mustard. My Asian pallet appreciated it so much

Solid 5 stars. Excellent quality food, we had Haddock and Chips which were amazing and a full English the next morning. The fish and chips are great the fish just flakes and the chips tastes amazing, as did the full English, nice thick bacon, good sausages and nicely cooked beans, mushrooms and hash browns. Solid 5 stars and nice pleasant service by all who served us. Well deserved tip at the end.

Beautiful haddock, chips and peas. The batter was melt-in-the-mouth, and the chips were done perfectly. Vegan and meat dishes (burgers, lasagne, etc) are also available. The waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. She remembered a full order of food and drinks without needing to write it down, which was a nice touch.

In short a stunning eatery in a must-visit location. Would recommend to anyone. Will definately go back soon.

BE WARNED!! You must phone up to book, as every table was full, and there was an ever increasing queue of people turning up on an ad-hoc basis.

Lunch slots are 12pm or 12:30 only as a rule, and to get a chance of a table by the window, you must choose the 12:00 slot.

Bravo! 5 stars all round!!
