In 2016, the owners of neighboring Old Stone Steakhouse (site of the former Belmont Police Station) began the intricate steps to bring the town’s former jail back to life. Now home to Belmont’s premium whiskey bar, launched in April 2017, the building’s historic 1960’s story still remains strong within the walls. Post up at a stainless steel bar top surrounded by iron cells, wander the concrete-clad rooms lined with old photos, or cozy up on a leather booth in the back room surrounded by ceiling scripts of prisoners past. There’s technically no separate street address for The Jailhouse, but you’ll find entry at the back side of the Belmont Jail along Mill Street, located behind Old Stone Steakhouse.

Located inside a historical Belmont jailhouse, ‘The Jailhouse’ is a fun and authentic cocktail bar. With reasonably priced drinks and attentive staff, this location makes for a great date night.
While the entrees are on the more expensive side, they all are fresh and delicious. The same follows for the appetizers with them being significantly more affordable (especially with the buy one get one half off).
My only complaint is that the table attached to the booths can be cramped if 2+ people are eating and drinking.
Overall a great experience!

VERY cool place to hang out! Awesome atmosphere, great drinks, excellent food. Smoked Old Fashion … to die for. Amazing selection of spirits and super bartender. In town for a conference and glad we found this place. Come check it out!

We chose The Jailhouse specifically for the cigar experience, combined with drinks and food. SUPER UNIQUE! The setting of an old jail makes the speakeasy part very enjoyable. The food was very good and the cocktails were made perfectly. Unfortunately, the cigar selection was limited due to a busy night before. There were still some quality choices, but definitely not enough. Overall, we had a FANTASTIC evening. Highly recommended.

We did not eat here but the cocktails were great and the set up is amazing. We sat in a little jail cell and it was so so fun!

It was my first visit. We really enjoyed our experience. The mixology, the food, and the service were very good, thanks, Bree! The entire staff was amazing. The atmosphere was really cool being an old jail. There is a cigar area that is really awesome. We had the filet mignon, which was really tender. There are beer and wine offerings as well.

Only came for drinks and to check out the cigar bar and whiskey bar. The whiskey bar was well stocked with some great brands. Generous pours made for some great drinks. Cigar bar had some good brands to choose from. Only saw 1 employee, the bartender, the whole time we were there. She made great drinks but didn’t seem too happy. Didn’t know if food was served. No menus and mentions from the bartender.

We went to Jail House on NYE, and I have to shout out the two ladies & one gentleman running the joint!! All three were absolutely phenomenal. Amazing drinks, great service, they were all so pleasant despite being slammed. They really went above and beyond in their service& hospitality making it a wonderful place to ring in the New Year
Also- shout out to the kitchen staff, we both ate dinner while there and it was delicious!

Stopped in for one drink to check it out. Very cool little spot w LOTS of liquor choices. Server was attentive and our drinks were very good. This place is definitely about the vibe as much as the cocktails. Even has a separate cigar lounge on the floor below the bar.

We got there early, had a drink and decided to eat at the bar. Canceled our reservation at Stone and ordered from the food truck (that has a more limited menu than the restaurant). Our steaks were done perfectly, and everything was delicious! The ladies behind the bar (Erin and Kayla) are exceptional! The drinks were original and refreshing! We had a great time celebrating our anniversary ❤️ Would definitely recommend!

My new fave place!!! I found out about this place from a friend & drove 32 mins from my home & it was DEFINITELY worth it!!! it was so good! the drinks were made from Emma (i possibly got this name wrong so sorry if i did. dark hair, glasses) she was amazing & friendly! she was the only bartender and handle the crowd so fast on her own. And the food was close to the best I’ve tasted in NC & I’ve ate at A LOT of places. the Cherry vinegarette was really good on my salad wedge i was full but kept eating lol plan to visit again. most likely today lol
