I went here thinking it was a normal salad bar but it was even better than expected! I got the bowl and chose to make the salad my base with the shredded chicken, potato salad and chickpea salad… The flavor was delicious and fresh! The garlic sauce on top hit the spot and I think this place has the best baklava I’ve ever had!

Monday, December 5, 2022, I received my platter with a long curly strain of hair in my beet salad. I find this to be very concerning that some of our staff is not practicing food safety handling procedures.

The food was superb. Falafel balls were nice and green inside. Hummus was creamy and tasted homemade. Eggplant and carrot salads were fresh and tasty. Best fluffy pita bread ever.

If I could give no stars I would. No exaggeration. The service here is terrible. The manager was screaming at the new employee in front of her other staff which should’ve been an indication to just not bother. The staff knows the products but do not like to explain the options clearly. They tell you just enough to hurry up and get away from you. The portions are very small and they get annoyed when you ask for additional items even after they explain there is an up charge. I was literally the only customer and the staff was not busy and just standing around clearly waiting for the lunch rush. If I’m paying $15.33 for a small bowl with fresh ingredients I also expect a nice experience that’s inviting from the staff and the manager. The eateries in Downtown Newark are a dime-a -dozen. And despite gentrification, businesses fail quite often in Newark and have to pack up as another attempted business venture. I’m sure if I matched another demographic I would have been treated differently. Best part there was a hair in my food and no one was wearing hair nets or beard nets. Now I am not a stickler, I don’t go out of my way to nitpick about restaurants just for fun and I do not go out of my way to make anybody’s job harder than it already is. I am a patient customer to say the least. I will never eat here again and I’ll make it a point to deter any students, local workers, and residents to steer clear from here.

Long line out the door when I went for weekday lunch but they move fast. Had the pita w shwarma, tabouli and cuke/tomato. It was very good and filling. Would go back again any time. They’re also kosher if you’re looking for that in Newark

I’ve been supporting this restaurant for many years however my most recent experience has me revisiting that decision. The lady behind the counter who I believe is one of the owners was very rude and was looking at colored people very condescending. Also, I purchased two items and asked for sauce and a bag. She said, the bag is .50 but I’ll give it to you on the house. I then asked for more garlic sauce since she only gave me 1 for 6 falafel!!!

Their apple pay machine somehow “didnt work” and they didnt even give me a refund. Had to pay physically with my credit card and ended up being double charged. Nonetheless, their food is decent.
