At The European, we are dedicated to crafting exceptional food that celebrates the artistry of European baking, from scratch cooking, outstanding ingredients, and the riches of local farms. Our mission is to provide a vibrant, welcoming space where everything we make—whether a delicate pastry or a hearty breakfast—is made from scratch with the highest quality ingredients and a commitment to excellence. At The European, we believe that food is more than sustenance; it’s a celebration of flavors, a connection to the earth, a way to connect to other cultures, and a source of health.

This a quaint little European Cafe on the square. The atmosphere is very inviting, easy to relax and converse in. The staff was very friendly and helpful with inquiries. We arrived after the kitchen closed, which is 2:30pm, so we indulged in pastries and coffee. The Tiramisu was absolutely spot on, and the Opera cake was extremely delightful. Coffee was perfectly blended and hit the spot on the nippy day. Can’t wait to return and try the kitchen menu, till then, keep up the great work.

Save that plane ticket to Western Europe, and just come here instead!
Where do I begin? I’ve been here a time or two in the past for a great cup of coffee and a croissant, but my girlfriend and I came to The European for our anniversary brunch. And we both agreed, it is the first 5/5 star food experiences we have had thus far.
Stepping inside the historic and stunning building was an immaculate vibe and a sense of courtesy among patrons. We’re all here for the same thing. Ambience, great coffee, killer pastries/desserts and incredible food.
I ordered the eggs Benedict (with local ham) and a cappuccino. It was hands down the BEST eggs Benedict I have ever had. Two poached eggs, covered in an incredibly rich Hollandaise sauce, decorated with micro-greens, arugula, with generous portions of ham underneath, sitting atop a high quality piece of bread. Wow. Paired perfectly with a beautifully crafted cappuccino.
My girlfriend got the ham and cheese panini and a cherry chocolate iced latte. The ham and cheese panini could sound “boring” but it looked amazing, and after I took a bite I was shocked. It was amazing.
So whether you want a cup of coffee, stylish desert, high quality brunch or just an all around great vibe COME HERE! If you don’t like spending a little money for quality maybe stick to Village Inn and Waffle House (no shade thrown, they are great). But this is high quality stuff.

Favorite place in town. From Chicago and i would come back to visit for these (tonos bean) lattes alone! Shakshuka is the best I’ve had also! Immaculate service and the pastries are delicious every time!!!

Beautiful merger! The last time I was here, Rise met/exceeded all expectations again. Today, merged with their associate, the European Café, it was another knockout. Caccio e Pepe egg bowl? Fantasy of food. Eggs and pancakes with bacon? Those ricotta pancakes were incredibly light and flavorful. The roasted tomato egg and avocado sandwich was beautiful. Just look at the menu…it’s excellent. Next time I’m going to purchase more pastries and perhaps some bonbons! They’re gorgeous! In all The time I’ve been coming to Springfield, there had never been a single time I’ve been that I’ve ever been disappointed. Well done!

European Café is a great little place in the middle of Downtown. The moment you walk in, it feels warm and comfortable. The coffee is delicious and well-made, with many choices, including cappuccinos, lattes, and strong espressos. Their pastries are fresh and have an excellent selection of croissants, cakes, and cookies that go perfectly with the drinks. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home.
Whether meeting friends, working on your laptop, or relaxing alone, European Café is a perfect place to take a break. There’s plenty of seating, and the atmosphere is calm and cozy, making it easy to spend hours here. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing spot in the city!

So my review will sound so odd. Everything here smelled delicious. But the help they gave me was beyond their calling. My battery on my car had gone dead. And after 2 others turning no me away, these ladies allowed me to carry my car battery and charger in to their restaurant. I wanted to buy something, but I only had $2. Yet they were gracious and accommodating. I’m sure the food is great. It smelled delicious. And I was given warmth and kindness. While others turned me away, these people were giving and kind. So go eat here. Tip large. They’re the best. I’m forever grateful

I used to enjoy coming here, the ambiance is nice and relaxing, the food is really good, and the employees are fantastic. They are always happy to serve you! I’ve witnessed more than once, a lady who I presume is a manager, very publicly berating her employees. I understand that you may need to coach your team, but it felt unnecessarily demeaning and left a bad taste in my mouth. It made things awkward for me and the people I was with. In this day and age it’s important to me to support establishments that support their staff! Sadly I have a hard time looking past that.

This cafe is a gem!! I have been stopping here for years and the quality of these desserts is the best in this area!
Every patisserie we have ever had here has been incredibly delicious and perfectly made. I wish I could give this place 10 stars for flavor and attention to detail.
This time we had the chai opera cake and a French press coffee. All delicious!

Love it here! Had the strawberry lemon parfait with the lavender coconut yogurt and avocado toast. Was so delicious that I came back for lunch and had the harvest salad with chicken which was so fresh and unique with the orange dressing. Cute local, healthy spot that’s a no brainer!

This is a great little coffee shop with incredible baked goods. It really does have a European feel to it. They make everything fresh there in the store and it’s got a really cool vibe. There’s a big parking lot behind the building on the north side or you can park and walk at the alley right to it. Great place.
