We visited for an early dinner…right before the big dinner surge. I loved the atmosphere & our server was very attentive.
I ordered the shrimp appetizer & snapper for main course. The shrimp was tasty. My snapper wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t order it again, I would try something different next time. The music was nice & not too loud. Our server recommended that we come back for happy hour. Overall, a good experience.

My partner and I came on Valentine’s Day which fell on a Saturday this year.
Packed is an understatement. We made a reservation and waited an additional 15 minutes to be seated. No biggie. Happens all the time.
What was a biggie was the near 45 minutes it took to have our orders taken. We came in at 9:15, checked in, and departed at 12:00 AM because of the waiting. I was sleepy and not even that hungry anymore by the time the main course came (around 11)
Context:
So the Valentines’ menu was set, so everyone had the same few choices of food (which were all delicious btw) so all we needed was for someone to come and take our order.
However I witnessed two tables which were seated 20 minutes after us have their orders taken first.
Now the staff were lovely, even with the stress of the busy night. I understand that.
But it wasn’t as if we didn’t speak up for ourselves. 3 times in fact. So I took off 2 stars.
As you’ll see in my rating, food was delicious! Man the jollof rice was so tastyyyy. I wish red snapper wasn’t sold out cuz the Branzino was meh. I understand it was cooked wonderfully though, but I would’ve preferred the snapper. Especially it it was made as well as the Branzino. The drinks were nice. We got something called Ruby (forgot the name) and it was pleasant.
I’d give it another chance on a regular night and not a high volume day like Valentine’s. But my Valentine’s review is 3 stars considering everything.

Sunday Brunch Buffet
The brunch buffet offered a wide variety of options, particularly appealing if you enjoy a blend of West African and American cuisine. The ambiance was clean, stylish, and inviting, complemented by a well-kept bar area. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit.
Parking on Sundays is convenient, with both street and garage options available. The garage fee was $13, but it provided a sense of security for the vehicle.
I sampled a range of dishes for variety. I didn’t care for the tilapia, the spice-grilled chicken, or the rice, which I found a bit too dry for my taste. However, the chicken red stew and the catfish were standout items, and all of the American offerings were delicious–especially the salad, cold grilled shrimp, carved turkey breast, and made-to-order omelet. The omelet station, though, could benefit from a few more ingredient options.
One note: the music and DJ can become quite loud and overpower conversations, so I recommend visiting before 1 p.m. if you prefer a quieter dining experience.
Overall, it’s a solid brunch choice with a diverse menu and pleasant atmosphere. I don’t have a need to drive to dc to go back .

Healing Barre
The Continent Restaurant in DC is hands down one of the best late-night spots in the city. The wings are absolutely amazing… flavorful and addictive. Pair that with top-tier hookah and excellent bottle service, and you’ve got the perfect vibe every single time. The atmosphere is always on point, the staff makes you feel like a VIP, and the fact that they’re open late makes it even better. Whether you’re coming to chill, celebrate, or just enjoy great food and drinks, this place never disappoints. I’ll be here every weekend and during the week The Continent is officially my go-to spot in DC!

Went here on a Saturday night to try the food and it was PACKED. The hostess found room for my wife and I which was so nice. My wife and I ordered a couple dishes. The food was for the most part delicious. The prawn and fish were so good. The goat was good too, but it was kind of chewy. Thing I did not like was that they charges us $9 for “still” water (saratoga bottled water) and never refilled our glasses for us?? They could have at least left the bottle at our table! Also out server never checked in on us once but we still got charged a 20% gratuity. These kind of ruined the experience. In addition, it was way too loud in there with the DJ, they should decide if they want a club vibe or a restaurant vibe, can’t have both. The prices are very high, $22 for one tiger shrimp is too much. It was a meh experience all things considered, im sure you can find a better African restaurant in the area.

Had the pleasure of dining at the Continent 4/15/26, and really enjoyed my experience. The food was delicious but don’t expect it to be spicy. My husband ordered the Red snapper and i had the stew beef. Stew beef was flavorless with no hint of spice. Never have i ever had any African stew that wasn’t spicy. Needless to say I was not impressed by it. My husbands snapper was delicious. The star of the show was the suya.. im still thinking of it, the suya was delicious and I will definitely order that dish when I return.

The Continent DC never disappoints, but their chicken noodle soup deserves a special shoutout. It’s comforting, flavorful, and tastes like it was made with care. The broth is rich, the chicken is tender, and it’s the perfect go-to when you want something warm and satisfying. When you go ask for Chef Tony….. Not to mention the great hookah service they have as well from Invictus Hookah. Nice pull and no burnt taste.!!!

No drinks- we were coming from spitit and wine festival and needed to eat & hydrate.
They have traditional dishes as well. I’d definitely recommend if you enjoy African food and are in the DC area.

First let me start by saying our waiter Will was very good. The food was also good but there were so many things they did not have. We had reservations for 7 pm and there were 14 of us. Although we were there early, they did not have shrimp for the samosas, no apple juice, and they were out of the yam fufu and had to make more but it never came. I expected much better due to the reviews and a bill over $2000.
