Have eaten here numerous times and decided to do a Daughter and Daddy day. My daughter loved the wings and waffles, I enjoyed the grilled pork chops with mac and cheese, also collard greens. Service was on point and provided my daughter with what she needed immediately. Overall, a successful lunch!

This was one of my better stops in the DC area. Getting to the location was a little interesting. We had to traverse a few distressed areas to get there, but it was well worth the adventure. Upon arrival, I found the parking to be limited, however, a nearby shopping plaza added the solution.

My family and I were in D.C. visiting my daughter at college and came here for dinner. The food was great! The only complaint that I have is that we weren’t told the gratuity would be added to our bill. When we gave the waitress her tip she informed us the tip was on the bill because we were considered a party since it was 7 of us. We didn’t feel right taking the cash out of her hand so the same amount she was tipped on the bill is what she received in cash also. Because of the the great food and waitress service the next time we visit D.C. we will come back. This time we know the tip is already added lol.

One word. GREENS! I LOVED them! I swear someone’s Granny made those greens. They were fire! I dined with two coworkers and we all loved it. I had spicy chicken, rice, greens and yams. I drank a champagne margarita and it was great too. We vibed with the DJ who was lots of fun, my only complaint was the slow service. They simply didn’t have enough employees. The bartender ended up being our server and we were not sitting in the bar. She was very busy. I think we were there a couple hours total between waiting and eating but ~ I’d do it all over again for those delicious GREENS! Parking is a bit of a pain because there is no actual parking lot, so we parked on a side street with metered parking. If visiting DC, Uber there and back but DO GO! 🙂

Coming here multiple times there are a few reviews that can vary on experience.Your always welcomed walking in the door. For the few servers they have they try. Food overall is pretty good. We have tried just about everything beef ribs are good, catfish good, porkchops are hit or miss being dry, combo appetizer is great, love mac&cheese, collard greens are always go-to’s. Atmosphere is very chill. Bar usually on the slow side and if out of the top shelf liquor you ask for they will charge you for it then give you lower quality if your not careful. We have had an extremely bad experience from food there but im willing to overlook this since it’s not typical from our experiences.

This is a great soul food restaurant. There are so many meat choices and sides. Everyone in the family can find something they like. The food is set up somewhat like a buffet but the staff prepares all of the plates. You stand and line and can see the food as it’s being prepared for your to go box. The food is always fresh and the portions are large. We always have left overs. The quality of the food is excellent. We always have great experiences when we eat here. The fried fish and beef ribs are a must try. The Mac and cheese is excellent. The cakes are moist and flavorful too. You’ll be sure to love it.

Service was a bit slow for carryout despite the food being already prepared. My entree (mama’s chicken) was put in the to-go container, and I had to wait 8 minutes for someone to add the sides ( which were already prepared). This was after the employee skipped me to serve the customer who was behind me. The sides were excellent (Mac n cheese and collard greens). Great flavor and decent portions. The chicken had a good flavor and was seasoned well. Unfortunately, the chicken was dried out as if it had been sitting for a while. I ended up throwing most of it away because it was nearly inedible. It’s definitely a shame because my belief is that fresher chicken would have been delicious. I would try it again, but I feel things might be better at a different location.

This place is unbelievable, first walk in, the guys name “Charles “ was so nice ! He provided the best service! ! I never see a man cool like him ! It is our first time be in the restaurant, and I think they get the traditional way to welcome to first time customers. Just prepare for that

I was in the area, so I decided to stop in because this used to be my place to dine in or pick up almost once a month pre-pandemic. When I came back after the pandemic, the cooking staff changed, and I still see it has completely changed. This also means the food has changed a little. I used to drive all the way from Facquier County VA pre-pandemic now that I’m staying a shorter distance in DC. I’ll pass until the prices come down just a little, but most certainly until the cooking staff changes. I’m not playing about my soul food, which I rarely get unless I cook it myself.
