The Brown Fig is a must experience type of restaurant. Every review that I read was spot on. The atmosphere is great for date night or just chilling with friends. My husband and I dined there on Friday for our anniversary. Everything from the Food, the service and atmosphere was fantastic. We had cheese which was lit on fire with brandy, delicious, gyro platter, asparagus, a wine flight and more Everything was delicious. The staff in cannot even put in to words how impressed I was with there service. This is a must experience. I will be bring family and friends with me next time I go and yes the restaurant gets busy real fast so go early or make a reservation.

Food, drinks, and service were great! Atmosphere was eh. It felt like they didn’t care much about who came in wearing whatever so that really cramped the atmosphere for me. People wearing ball caps, ripped pants, band tee shirts, book bags, gay pride earrings.

Immediately took the place down multiple notches from feeling like somewhere exquisite to on par with a casual neighborhood spot or sports bar.

For the price, 2 drinks and 2 desserts ($48), and quality of food I was expecting a more refined and consistent atmosphere.

Not the setting I’d choose if I wanted to go somewhere on a special occasion.

Was in Monroe for the weekend and a friend referred me to The Brown Fig, said it was delicious, and I trust her! Went straight to the bar, party of one, greeted quickly by 2 very friendly bartenders and ordered the Grand Old Fashion, which was spot on! Provided me with water without having to ask for it, perfect service! Enjoyed my drink and my new friends at the bar for a few sips and then I was asked what I would like to have for dinner. Asked about a few of their offerings and the female bartender was very knowledgable about their menu and made a few recommendations. I went with the Soluvaki with Shrimp as she suggested. She did not steer me wrong and offered to provide me with a menu if I wanted something else to drink, got a glass of Pinot, drank all my water before they brought that over, good transition.

The Soluvaki with taziki and pita bread, with a cold orzo and fresh feta with veggies was so delicious, clean plate club!!!! Met the owner, she asked if I was enjoying my dinner, and she was super friendly as well! Enjoyed my solo night on Monroe at The Brown Fig thoroughly and I will be back with my husband and any friends that we can convince to make the drive! Great little downtown and great little quaint restaurant! I see you Monroe, and I see you too The Brown Fig….keep it up!!!

What a charming place! You would almost prepare for it to be pretentious but it’s not. We made a reservation and I would highly suggest that. By 5 pm opening time there was already a line at the door. I had a martini which was wonderful. The gyro plate was enough for me to bring home and have another meal. Dessert did not disappoint with the baklava cheesecake and key lime tart. I should mention that it was REAL key lime. A lot of places do not indulge you with real key limes then call it a “key lime” dessert. Brown fig definitely uses the real thing and super indulges you. To end our meal we ordered the coffee. It’s French press deliciousness. What a real surprise. Our waiter, Cody, was spot on, professional , energetic and attentive. He was very informative and helped us pronounce menu items without making us feel dumb. It being Greek/Mediterranean fare there were plenty of items that were a challenge for us Southerners. I suggest you ask for Cody when you go. He will not disappoint. He and the bar tender must’ve been telepathic because I ordered a drink and before Cody could leave the table the bar tender was already bringing my martini. I did not get the manager’s (maybe owner?) name but she checked on our table frequently and was absolutely lovely. Thank you Brown Fig for such a wonderful meal.

I’m quite the critic when it comes to restaurants, and The Brown Fig exceeded all expectations! The ambiance and decor are stunning and really set the tone for your experience. It’s rather rare to find this level of attention to detail in restaurants these days, so I really appreciated the ambiance they are achieving here.

The menu is simple and small– which means fresh! There’s nothing worse than having to spend 20 minutes sifting through a giant menu. Not here!

We kicked off the evening with cocktails. I had the mule with house-made fig syrup– literally the best mule ever! Our friendly & knowledgeable server, Reagan, recommended the Greek Meatball “Keftedes” and it didn’t disappoint! We shared the Pork Souvlaki for our entree, and it was also absolutely delicious.

Do yourself a favor and add this hidden gem to your regular rotation in the Monroe/Walton County area. I would be doing the same if I wasn’t visiting from NC!

Five stars & a huge round of applause to the staff and management. It’s really refreshing to find places that still care about giving a refined, yet approachable dining experience.

Met my daughter here for a Friday night with the fam. The atmosphere was perfect…singer was great for live music…the street it was on was inviting and unexpected coming from Atlanta. The waitress suggested my dish and it was truly unbelievable…think of a filo stuffed with delishishness (not a word I know). All the dishes were so tasty. Perfect spot for a date night, special night out or just a night out with friends with a cool vibe.

We waited 45 minutes for a table for 2, when there were at least 6 in view empty. Waiter took our order promptly, then we waited and waited. People who came in after us were served their food. Owner was walking around talking to those who had food, but never came to our table. The waiter came up 3 times to appologize about delay. after third time, I told him if we didn’t get our food within another 15 minutes we would be leaving. So 45+ minutes after our order was taken, we left. 2 tables that were seated after us had already eaten and left.
