Quiet and quiet old Virginian style Southern food in a place where one can imagine great grandma cooking. Our service provider was excellent and the owner came by to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The AC was a welcome respite from Southern Virginia summer, even though there was outdoor seating. Wine list is small, but there is nice list of whiskey to drink. Will return for special occasions.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I have eaten at. The food was superb, the waitress was amazing, greeted at the door by the owner, and the renovated house is fabulous.

I’m writing this from the restaurant because I can’t wait! This place is absolutely precious and the food is Delicious! Imagine being in a hallmark movie and walking into a grandmothers house and she cooks you some of her great recipes! The walls were beautifully painted by the owners Great aunt. The owner greeted us and sat us down! Awesome service, great food, can’t wait to come back!

Wonderful restaurant full of rich history and awesome people. The owner saved this historic home from being torn down and lovingly restored it. Food was amazing and conversation with the staff and owner was even better! We had the brisket appetizer, fried chicken, meatloaf and peach pie. Hubby enjoyed some local beer and a bourbon flight. I hardly ever leave reviews but this place deserves some recognition. No pics of the food because we dug in and ate it so fast!

What a wonderful old house converted to a restaurant. Great place to stop for a nice drink/snack or full meal. Have bar seats and tables. Ham biscuits are scrumptious! Take time to look at historical blacksburg pics on the walls. The owner was a delight to talk with. Wonderful service.

Homey southern food home cooking served fresh to order and brought by friendly helpful staff that wants to make you happy. Local beers on the menu too. Yes, it’s not the home place. Big deal – it’s a gem and Blacksburg is lucky to have it. The fried chicken is amazing.

Tasty authentic southern food with local and regional drink options, all in a historic home with Tavern vibes. The owner greeted us and checked on us once or twice. Our server was super friendly and attentive. Larger groups can order family style… just like Grandma used to do it. We will be back!

We had family in from NM and for our one meal out together we chose The Blacksburg Tavern. I was embarrassed that I suggested the restaurant after we ordered the family style option. We walked away spending around $143 (before the tip) and went home to eat. I can see I am not the first to complain about this issue. There is not enough food brought out for a family for the cost. Not only was there not enough but it wasn’t good. The brisket was fatty and lacked flavor, the pinto beans tasted like canned chili, and all of the sides except the beans were barely warm. The chicken was good as it typically is but again not enough for a family style option. Because no one liked the brisket we took what was left home and gave it to our dog. Being charged extra when they don’t provide enough is absurd. The one thing I would not complain about was the waitress; she was wonderful.

This place is a wanna be Homeplace with prices that definitely are not worth it. The meats and sides are all very salty and has a very bold and smokey flavor. It is not AYCE anymore so the price is not justified. I’d rather go to Bojangles or KFC. It’s sad bc this was our first time here and was highly recommended.
