As a family-owned business, we operate a sub sandwich shop dedicated to serving fresh, high-quality meats and locally baked bread. The name Big Bear stems from our family’s affection for Northern Wisconsin, as well as our love of bears and generously portioned sandwiches. Our family enjoys fishing and kayaking together. Our goal was to establish a local sub shop offering sandwiches with abundant ingredients and meats. At Big Bear, we prioritize providing an exceptional experience and outstanding customer service. My first time here and was not disappointed. Cute little place. I ordered “The Wolf” which consisted of roast beef, turkey, mozzarella, tomato, lettuce, cucumber, pesto and garlic aioli on a seeded bun. The flavors were abundant and fresh!!! I absolutely loved eating this sandwich. I really have no complaints about it. Maybe a smidge more meat? That’s clearly subjective though. The Deli itself was clean and the lady who greeted me was very friendly. A very good vibe inside. Now, I hate to do this but there is one thing that I didn’t like. Nowhere to sit and eat your delicious sandwich. Takeout only. Still giving 5 stars anyways. I will definitely be back to try the other sandwiches on the menu. Prices are fair and the quality is outstanding. Thank you for a great foodie experience.

I went to this restaurant because I saw an ad they placed in a Facebook group. The sandwiches looked very thick and hearty and full of meat which is rare compared to a lot of sub sandwich shops today.
The sandwiches we got we’re not nearly as full as the ones shown on Facebook but it was a lot more than your average Subway or Jimmy John’s. My complaints would be there is no normal subs everything is a mixture combination of meats. You can’t go there and just get a regular turkey sub which makes it difficult going there with preteens. There’s only one choice of bread which was a toasted sesame and I’m not a fan of that because it leaves a burnt taste in my mouth after every bite.
When I asked for pickles on the side, I was told no, because they don’t have any to go cups. I also waited 25 minutes for two 9in subs. The quality of food was good fresh meat & cheese and a 9 in sub left me feeling full, but for a $16 sub I was not really that impressed. We ordered a number 1 & 3.
The worst part was after the lady (who was very polite and friendly) handled our money She went to the back and started helping out with the subs. No hand washing was done or heard. I witnessed this multiple times throughout our 25 min wait for our lunch. Now I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and maybe she wasn’t working on our sandwich as you can’t see much through the slats of their dividers.
Overall this is a fancy gourmet sub shop It might be good for some people It just wasn’t good for me. If they add a regular turkey sub to their menu or some kids subs, I might think about going back.

Came here for the second time and was pretty disappointed. My first visit was great.. fresh bread, meat was stacked like advertised, and everything tasted really good. $12 for a 6 inch sub was expensive, but seemed worth it based on the quality and how much meat you got.
Unfortunately, my second visit was the complete opposite. The bun seemed old, the meat wasn’t fresh or stacked (like advertised), and the overall taste was closer to packaged deli meat. As you can see in the photo, there was barely any bacon and very little meat on the sandwich.
For about $20, I expected much better quality and consistency. I hope this was just an off day and that the food standards improve moving forward.

Heard about The Big Bear from Dang That’s Good and I had to try it out. I ordered the Squirrel but took off the Horseradish and added the Garlic Aioli. It was soooo good. My wife got the Beaver exactly how they make it. Both were extremely delicious! They were backed up a bit and the nice lady that was running the register came by to apologize a couple times. We understood, great things take time, but they did get a rush. We will definitely be coming back when we are in the area. One thing I wish was a bit more seating. Only had two tables inside. This is a must try, won’t disappoint whatsoever!

First time ordering here. Super fast even though we ordered 5 sandwiches for myself and staff at our business. Food was good and healthy portions. I had the Big Bear with a couple of special requests and the nailed it! Huge sandwich.

I saw this place on tik tok and it looked absolutely delicious. It’s about 5 minutes from my work so it’s a great grab on the way home. Let me just start by saying I looked at all the negative reviews and had to laugh, don’t trust some of these stuckup people that would get mad if the bag doesn’t close tight. This place is absolutely top tier, I’m a sucker for a fat deli sandwich and this place hits the spot. I went today and I’m for sure going back tomorrow. The bread was absolutely delicious, the meat was stacked high, veggies were really fresh. They are more than happy to accommodate your requests and help make the sandwich you want. I feel the price was fair for the sandwich you get. If you think this is expensive you probably haven’t been to a real sandwich shop. The place is small, few benches inside, few tables outside.

My husband and I decided to try this new sandwich shop. OMG IM IN LOVE!!
Love the decor, up Northwoods feel. We both had half subs which were huge in my opinion. I ordered the wolf sub & hubby had the musky which is so fitting since we both musky fish!
The bread was SOOOO good, has that soft chewy Italian taste. Both sandwiches were stuffed with the freshest veggies and meats.
We will definitely have this sandwich shop on our regular stop!
Also to note, this is a carry out only, they have about 3 tables/chairs outside for outdoor dining.

Such a beautiful little spot! It has the northern wisconsin feel and I love how convenient it is; especially since I operate a salon suite right next door. It’s perfect for a quick lunch between clients. The sandwiches are so good—fresh, flavorful, and seriously loaded with meat! Whether you’re grabbing something on the go or sitting down to enjoy the view, it’s definitely worth the stop.

Waited many months to try this place and finally got the opportunity this past Friday. From Facebook posts I’ve read providing feedback, I called in to place my order and began my drive out there from 76th & Oklahoma area. I arrived and my food was ready and the gal working the front was very friendly but you could tell was rather busy.
The sandwich was huge. The ingredients were fresh and overall I was very satisfied. It is on the pricey side, but I understand with how food prices are these days. We will be back!
