Walked into The Shop like I owned stock in oil futures and bad decisions. Neon lights humming, jukebox fighting for its life, and the bartender moving like she’s seen it all and still showed up anyway.
Couple beers in and I make the classic pilgrimage to the men’s room.
Now this is where legends are written.
Bathroom looks like it’s survived three Bakken booms and at least one minor riot. Sharpie art everywhere. Declarations of love. Threats. Phone numbers that probably lead to a bail bondsman.
And then I see it.
Right there on the wall.
“D Nasty.”
No explanation. No number. Just the name. Bold. Confident. Almost presidential.
Under it, some ancient graffiti that reads “C + ♥” like a fossil from 1992.
I stood there thinking… is D Nasty a man? A myth? A movement?
As I’m washing my hands, door swings open and in walks a guy built like he welds pipelines with his bare hands. He looks at the wall. Looks at me. Gives a small nod.
Did I just meet D Nasty?
No words were exchanged. None needed. Legends don’t explain themselves.
Back out in the bar, music’s louder, someone’s arguing about rig counts, and I’m half convinced I just encountered a local folk hero.
5 stars for atmosphere. 4 stars for mystery. 10 stars for D Nasty’s marketing strategy.
If you want a place that feels like ND oilfield folklore with cold beer and unpredictable bathroom lore… The Shop delivers.

Decent enough place. Cold drinks, hot food, loud music. My only complaint is that the “pull down” paper towel holder is right beside the urinal, like, no partition or divider by any means. Like, this half-lit fella, wearing a really nice MAC shirt, wanted to stand there, full on eye contact, occasionally darting his eyes towards my midsection, wanting to chit-chat about the his game winning shot. Weirdo.

Bartender was friendly and nice….better than anyone I met in North Dakota in a week. Drinks were cheap and strong. No frills place but she made it fun.

This place was great!!!!! It is super clean roomy and nicely layed out. The patrons were all very friendly and inviting and the bar keep was very social and professional as well as genuine and efficient. I will gladly revisit this place and think it would be worth a visit to anyone in the Williston area!

Appearances are deceiving… it’s actually a nice, clean, non-racy bar. They’ve got pool, and tear off lotto. Don’t think they got pub munchies though.
