Checked out the new egg tart stall The Beat Bakery at @popup_district! The egg tarts were quite tasty! Though the Portuguese ones were a bit “TOO not sweet”

They can get sold out fast , it’s a hit or miss but when it’s good it’s really good.
My favorites are the Portuguese egg tart, coconut and match green tea. However the black sesame is perplexingly bad. It’s not sweet , but not savory either , and a bit too bitter. I wonder if they forgot to add sugar.

Another thing I have a gripe with them is that their packaging is a plastic bag that cannot be enclosed. With that kind of price , I expect at least a box if you buy more than 4. The pastry can easily get crushed. I don’t understand why they cheap out on packaging.

I absolutely love The Beat! The atmosphere is modern and welcoming, with a clean and stylish setup. The pastries are fresh, buttery, and baked to perfection — you can really taste the quality. The staff are friendly and efficient, making every visit a pleasant experience. Prices are very reasonable for the quality, and there’s a great variety of treats to choose from. Definitely a hidden gem in Falls Church, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a relaxed coffee break. Highly recommend!

This is a little hidden gem. I fell in love immediately after trying their croissant. Their tarts are delicious too like some of hong kong/macau classic styles and maybe some with cheesecake hint to it. Words ain’t enough so just taste through the pictures. I’m sure it won’t take long for this place to get popular.

You must try their pastries because you can tell they put so much quality and hard work into them. The croissant is super flaky, and the tarts are so smooth & tasty.

I tried a cheese tart, Portuguese egg tart, and Hong Kong egg tart. The flaky tart base was buttery and pretty good, but the egg tart filling was so flavorless. Honestly, it was one of my least favorite flavor profiles. It just tasted like a bland, eggy custard without much depth. Sadly, took a bite and decided not to eat the whole thing it was a waste of money for me.

Wanted to try each of their four tarts, Hong Kong egg, Portuguese, cheese, and coconut. They offered a 25 cent discount when ordering six pastries, so I also ordered a second coconut tart and a specialty item, the crushed chocolate croissant. The Hong Kong tart was very eggy and not very sweet, my least favorite of the bunch, but good if you’re looking for something light in sugar. The cheese tart was delicious and by far my favorite, wish I had ordered two of these. The cheese tart, coconut tart, and Portuguese tart all had beautiful flaky crusts. The Portuguese tart and coconut tarts were delicious but very one note, the cheese tart was more complex due to the sourness of the cream cheese, toasted top, and textural variety. The crushed chocolate croissant was a fun novelty item and delicious, but not something I would order again, it was a crunchy cookie version of a croissant. Really quick service and I liked that you could see the baking process. Will definitely be back for more cheese tarts! Highly recommend!

We had a croissant, pain au chocolat, and palmier. This is one of the best croissants I’ve been able to find since moving to the US, with perfect texture, layering, and taste. The chocolate in the pain au chocolat is good, and the palmier was quite nice too.
