Stopped here on the way home to Dallas and so glad we did.
It was a Saturday, so only a brunch menu was available but it was more than good enough.
My steak was cooked to perfect rawness and chicken-fried steak was crispy and flavorful.
On top of delicious food, the restaurant itself was beautiful, full of old-world charm.
Thank you Erik for your wonderful service and we appreciated the complimentary birthday dessert.
It was a memorable meal we thoroughly enjoyed.
Highly recommended.

From the moment we walked through the front door, the staff at The Barton House made us feel genuinely welcome. I loved that we got to choose which beautiful room we wanted to dine in — every one of them has its own charm and character.
We were celebrating a birthday and anniversary, and the entire experience felt special from start to finish. I ordered the pork chops, and they were cooked to absolute perfection — juicy, flavorful, and beautifully plated. JT had the lemon piccata, which was bright, tender, and just as delicious. Our friends enjoyed their meals too, and we all couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful everything tasted.
To top it all off, the crème brûlée was pure perfection — the kind of dessert that makes you close your eyes after the first bite.
If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers on atmosphere, service, and flavor, Barton House is the place. They made our celebration unforgettable

When you are on the road all day, sometimes you want something healthy. Something that you’re mom might have cooked or a wife if you found a good one. The Barton House was even better than that with subtle flavors paired nicely together. Not like a chain where you have to buy thee items to pair. No, their menu is thoughtful, authentic and refreshing. I had almost given up hope on eating out. The owner was attentive, ensuring everything went smoothly, even helping lovely handi-capable old ladies to their chair. I joked with her, “the food was so good, I became territorial when people entered the room.” 10/10
Chicken Parm. I would have a pic but I ate it before I could. Good size portion

Really disappointing meal. Ordered Chicken Parm and Chicken Picatta to go which we do occasionally. Chicken Picatta salty, very little sauce. Chicken Parm was edible but light on flavor and greasy–sub par. Side of pasta skimpy—picture posted below. Calamari overcooked and soggy. Disappointing for $100 meal. Will drive to Belton next time–have the cost, much better food experience.

Service with a smile goes a long way and makes the meal taste great! This historic landmark is filled with not only a good old fashioned cozy home feel. It also has hidden locations where speakeasy fans can find a private and intimate space within the walls of history.
The Rib Eye was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the calamari and Chicken was ginormous. But above all everyone here was welcoming and took time to give us a personal tour of The Barton House. With any landmark up keep is a constant but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the grounds and gardens. Located in the heart of Salado this experience is one we will certainly come back to relive.

Nice dining experience here with one big caveat…the first room dining area is not conducive to having a quiet or normal conversation. Met Lauren who is the manager there, very sweet lady and although we were a walk-in got us a table as they were a bit busy. Our server Lindsey got us set up with beverages and we reviewed the menu. I saw some of the appetizers go by so decided not to start there as they were huge. We ordered the Chicken Marsala and the Texas Pork Chop with add-on side salads. I’m not normally a fan of Marsala with mashed potatoes BUT this dish was delicious and the potatoes were a perfect accompaniment. The chicken nicely breaded and tender while the Marsala sauce was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. The pork chop was grilled and charred perfectly and the bacon jelly was “WOW” when combined with the chop. Really good food, a bit higher in the price range (dinner + 1 drink/1 beer for two $100), and good service in a converted old home. Why not 5 Stars…service was a bit disjointed and slow, loud dining area, bringing out my daughters dish with mashed potatoes (pork chop dish) when we discussed over and over again gluten and dairy dietary issues and said no mashed potatoes.

My wife and I recently had dinner at The Barton House in Salado for a work meeting, and we were blown away by the experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely incredible. I had the pork chop, and it was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and beautifully presented with mashed potatoes, broccolini, and crispy bites on the side.
Our server, Eric, provided outstanding service. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly for our group. It really made the evening even more enjoyable.
This place is a gem in Salado. We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family. Great job to the whole team!

Salados best spot for fine (though not overly formal) food and it’s really not close. Our group had tuna, pork chops, lasagna, burgers and fettuccine- if there’s weak spots in the menu, we weren’t able to find it. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating. Wine selection is a strength as well. Easy 5 stars!

The environment outside was lovely, the inside was nice but the waiter we had seemed rude when we mentioned a pork allergy and seemed to judge us a little. For coffee they don’t have any half and half, milk or non fat only heavy cream. The one set of utensils and napkin was dirty at the table, the French toast my mom ordered was raw and she didn’t eat it, grilled cheese was good, my avocado toast was suppose to be scrambled egg and was a omelet. The steak was cooked correctly and the eggs were not over easy, no seasoning on the potatoes and the biscuits and gravy no seasoning but the biscuits tasted good. No refills on water or coffee and We drove 55 minutes to try it out but we won’t be coming back.

A solid choice for great dining in Salado. We’ve been a handful of times and have always had lovely service and consistent dishes. Faves- ribeye lasagna, fettuccini barton, and shrimp scampi. Prices are reasonable for the quality (and quantity) of food. Also appreciate they always ask if we are celebrating something. The only downside is it’s a bit loud on a busy night, but worth it for the great food and service.
