Elegant farm-to-table tasting menus served in a regal wood-beamed barn at Blackberry Farm.

We had a beautiful anniversary dinner at The Barn during our stay at BlackBerry Farm. The four course, farm to table menu had so many delectable choices. We ended up with a spread of lamb, NC trout, and a myriad of gorgeous vegetables and tantalizing sauces. The service was attentive without being overbearing and the modern barn decor had great ambiance. This was a one of kind special meal that we won’t forget!

The atmosphere was beautiful for us to celebrate our anniversary. Jacket required for men. We dined two consecutive evenings with different 4 course menus since it rotates every two days. The sommelier told us they have the second largest wine collection in the US, and they have a great selection of premium liquors. Between the courses, chef sent surprise tastings which elevated the experience. Before dessert, they sent Sorghum caramels. After I commented on how much I enjoyed them, our server went to the pastry chef and sent us home with 7 more caramels. Attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction made this an unforgettable dining experience.

The Barn is the fine dining restaurant associated with Blackberry Farm (your other options when staying on property are Dogwood or in room dining.). Service is top notch as is the food. Everyone dresses up … men all wear sports jacket and slacks (didn’t see any ties though) and women wear elegant dresses and similar.
Amazing food … the menu changes every other night. Since it’s a small menu, that typically means you’ll be leaning towards eating similar things if you dine two nights in a row (I dined there 3 nights in a row and was very happy for my decision!)
If you are a wine lover, two things to know. First … ask for a tour of the wine cellar. With 160,000 bottles it’s the second largest in the US. Second … the sommeliers are willing to open almost anything (reasonable) by the glass. No that doesn’t mean you can get just a glass of some pricey aged bottle. But it does mean that you can get a glass of almost any flavor profile or region or style you want … just talk with the Sommerlier. I effectively built my own wine tasting experience every night I dined there.

We stayed at The Guest House, the staff deices you down the hill to The Barn. Dinner was four courses, with five dishes to choose among for each course. The Beverage Menu is a 290 page PDF on a tablet. I studied it online before dinner, selected a very well-priced Jaboulet. Started with a glass of Champagne. A whiskey with dessert. Lovely.

Exceptional all around aside from food (just decent). Two tips to start off with, first the tasting menu isn’t a great idea, it’s a lot of food. Second, the wine pairing a certainly are worth it. The somm team here is quite skilled and I was surprised by how on point they were with each dish. The service aside from pouring wine is also excellent and we felt quite taken care. Now the food, it’s good, really good, but not exceptional. I’m also used to fine and experimental dining in Austin, and judging the mean at The Barn to what’s available on a weekend in Austin, and the Barn gets a “yeah, it’s good.” Now since it isn’t located in Austin, it certainly is probably the best mean you can get within 15 miles of it in TN, so I kept it’s rating at 5 stars because it isn’t competing in a wealthy metro (but there is certainly room for improvement).

Blackberry Farm is an absolutely amazing experience. A picturesque destination for weddings, events, or just a weekend retreat. Tucked away in the Smokey Mountains, you truly feel ‘off the grid’, while the incredibly helpful and hospitable staff can assist in getting whatever your heart desires.

A gorgeous property that I would love to stay at! But woe to the tourist that presumes that a restaurant that says “open” on Google Maps and is not listed as private dining would be open to the public for breakfast. Apparently, breakfast is reserved for those staying on property. If you make this mistake, be prepared to suffer the withering and unnecessary condescension of one of the property hosts at the main dining room.

My husband I had a wonderful meal here. We selected the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings after seeing the wine list which was amazing, but also…overwhelming. i believe it was 7 courses, but there were tiny surprise courses also, so I think we ended up eating 10 courses. The facility is rustic, but beautiful and the staff is friendly and professional. My husband noticed they even stopped deliver of a course when I went to the bathroom and went back to keep it warm for us. It was one of the greatest meals we’ve ever eaten.
