It’s probably a good thing for my waist line that I didn’t find out about Baker’s Bench sooner: their baked goods are to die for! They sell a variety of pastries, including almond and chocolate croissants, cheese and fruit Danishes, cinnamon buns (made with their croissant dough), and their famous cream horns. Their other pastries are good (especially that croissant filled with almond paste), but the cream horn is excellent and the BEST cream horn I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and get several of these cream horns, because they are even good the next day! Parking is tricky, so be patient and try to go at an odd time. They don’t seem to have a website or social media presence, but as of May 26, 2023 they are open Tues – Sat, 7 – 2 or 3 pm.

We go out of our way to visit this bakery. The lemon square is always the perfect balance of sweet and tart and the pastry firm and moist. The creams really prove they know what they are doing. The eclair cream is light and creamy, and different from the delicate cream of the cream puffs. If you want something savory, go for the ham and cheese croissant! Excellent choices, but go early in the day if you want them all to be there.

The best pastries around. You have to try one of their whooping pies. I find they’re freshly made Tuesday mornings. Everything else is great too. You won’t regret stopping in.
