We were at Ashvale takeaway in Aberdeen over the weekend and picked up lunch for myself, my wife and an elderly lady we were visitillng. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, juicy, and absolutely delicious. Seeing the smile on her face made it even more worthwhile.

We enjoyed it so much that the next day we decided to visit again for a takeaway in the evening for dinner with another friend — and once again it did not disappoint. The quality and flavour were just as fantastic.

A big shout-out to the whole team, and a special mention to Kenzie who served us on both occasions. She was quick, hardworking, and provided genuinely lovely service, all with a warm smile. Her friendly attitude really stood out and helped make both visits even better.

Thanks, Kenzie — you’re doing a fantastic job for Ashvales ✨

Food portions are tiny and chips are always undercooked unless you ask for double cooked. Feels like they reduce the portions if you dare ask for your chips to be served not hard in the centre. £4 for a regular and they give the smallest portion of chips I’ve ever seen.

Staff lovely. Food was great. Everyone left happy with a full belly. Not very busy so some background music would help.

Edit went for the new steak pie. Veru generous amd tasty. Fully booked on a Thursday tea time.

Cullen skink was just a plate of potatoes. The “soup” just tasted of cream. It used to be much better.

The food quality was terrible! Both me and my partner became sick 2 hours after we had our meal there. We had haddock with chips and salad. I’m not about the money wasted on the food. I’m more mad at the quality of the food that got both of us sick immediately! I think the food hygiene needs to be investigated there! Will never go back.

Aberdeen doesn’t have a lot of fish and chip restaurants, which gives the Ashvale a slight advantage but when you’re in the mood for a chippy its great to be able to sit in and enjoy it! They have a wide variety of all your chip shop classics, including a teatime flyer: which is a selection of them, including tea and toast or your choice of fruit juices (surely a can of Fanta or Irnbru could be included also?).

I would always recommend booking ahead for a table as peak times can get busy. They have also just increased their opening times, which is good if you’re not one for eating early. We had used a TasteCard on our visit which gave us some discount as the prices are quite high but you do get what you pay for, large portions served fresh and with some homemade toast… you can’t go wrong!

Great fish and chip! Ordered the 2-course lunch sets and love them all, especially for the starters haggis bon bons and smoked chowder. The fish and chip is top notch. The staff are friendly and polite as well. Will definitely come back when visiting Aberdeen.

After ordering a chippy from lowes i was left really disappointed in the standard of food and the lack
Of care I was given to my specific needs of
Having my food cooked in a separate fryer for dietary reasons, I thought I would
Try the ashvale i forgot about it my partner and my self were really craving
Fish and chips we went to dine in and was not
Disappointed, the lady addressed us soon as we walked in the door and seated us next to the heater and took our order, I asked the lady if the fish is cooked separately from the meat and I was advised that I need not worry as their fish was cooked separately from the meat,, the
Food was outstanding fresh crispy batter and the chippy chips was really really nice hats off to the ashvale for the outstanding quality food and service,

A lovely visit to the Ashvale for a delicious fish and chips family dinner. I had the smoked yellow haddock supper which great choice from the main menu. The service was prompt and attentive and certainly will be back again in the future.

Went on a Friday night, large group shouting and swearing constantly throughout meal. We let staff know, they did nothing about it, appalling obscene language was allowed to continue, glad i never took my kids, won’t be back.
