I used to be a frequent visitor of the previous Thai Gourmet restaurant that used to be at the same location. I have since moved away from Houston, but was devastated hearing that this place had closed down. I was a little skeptical when my parents told me a new Thai place has reopened in the same spot, but was willing to give it a try.

Would recommend you to try the grilled marinated beef.…(Tiger Crying ) Grilled meat is cooked just right. Soft, fragrant, delicious. Served with spicy Thai-style dipping sauce and crab fried rice with real crab meat. It’s the best fried rice I’ve ever had and restaurant decoration makes me enjoy having dinner and drinking red wine. It’s a wonderful dinner tonight.

So I’ll start off with saying that I was a frequent visitor of Thai Gourmet, the previous restaurant that occupied this space, and was hoping to have the same exact flavors and tastes as the old restaurant I loved so much. Although the flavors were not near the same, the highlight of my experience was the great service. Granted, we came when it was very empty, but I was happy that there was good service for a recently opened restaurant. They did not change much, if anything, of the old restaurant. Even the menu looks similar.

Thai Garden Restaurant & Bar has big portions on their lunch menu. The staff and management has changed but they still serve halal chicken and now have halal beef too.

My Name Is Not Important
I came here based on a friends recommendation. I hear it’s a new restaurant that took over the same location with a similar name. I thought the staff was great and on top of things. The owner Kae and her husband were both in the restaurant and were very friendly and courteous to my party. The food was excellent. I tried several dishes and everything was amazing. I’ll be back soon.

We had the curry dish with chicken, mild. It was delicious. This is one of the best places in Houston for Thai food in my opinion.

Bad experience. I have edited my review with greater detail. At 4:45 pm May 20th. I entered this establishment with my spouse, the establishment was deserted. We sat for 15 minutes and were ignored by staff, two Hispanic men, we left. I have uploaded a photo of my spouse, and a caption from another review. “After stopping into what was once Thai Gourmet on Richmond Ave and is now known as Thai Garden; when I realized there is no native Thai speaker in the house, and no Thai language menu it became apparent that what once was a decent Thai eatery was a bygone. After being ignored at Thai Garden, we traveled a few miles east on Richmond Ave and found Rim Tanon. Rim Tanon is a Thai restaurant in all aspects”. I don’t appreciate you comment, it is dishonest and seeks to invalidate, our experience. Because of your comment I changed the rating to one star. Hopefully this rating is helpful. We travelled 50 miles to experience Thai Garden, my spouse was very disappointed and angered at the terse manner in which the staff treated her.

We have had a good dining experience at the Thai Gourmet restaurant which closed just after COVID. Now, it seems like new management has started Thai Garden with similar taste and authentic thai cuisine. We ordered, Vegetable Drunken Noodles (extra veggies), Basil Fried rice (extra veggies), Spicy cheese rolls, and Thai fried rice (extra veggies). The food was delish and the ambience is also good.

It’s quite a disappointment with the food quality. It’s used to be excellent place but the change of ownership/management has made things worse. The noodles from Thai garden soft spring roll was dry, like rice noodles left in a refrigerator from a night before. The peanut sauce that came with it was bland. We also ordered Pad Kha Pao and it did not taste like the dish. There were two tables with four customers total at Saturday noon. If you want to have some authentic Thai food, go somewhere else. Don’t be fool with almost 5 stars reviews.
