With a heavy heart and… – Tequila Butcher at The Caribbean

With a heavy heart and much sadness, I have to announce that this was our last summer at The Caribbean Marina on Lake Minnetonka.

Great food! Bad service. The $6 tacos were delicious but overpriced. Wait staff young and lacking in any service knowledge. Slow and forgot drinks and requests for a side of sauce. You get no plates and plastic utensils you must unwrap. $14 Caesar salad was tiny with fast food dressing to peel open, served in to-go plastic clamshell. No napkins. But… the view is awesome, and the restaurant is super cute. The sunny, hot day we were there, the promotional table umbrellas had blown away earlier, and we were told we weren’t allowed to open them. So we sweat while we ate.

We had a Chicken wrap. No seasoning dip inside. Little pieces chicken cubed, mostly all lettuce. Had to ask for a side dressing $16. Not worth it..

The review is for the new place, Lost Bay. Same Ole Lake minnetonka restaraunt attitude. We don’t have to try hard because we have an amazing spot on the lake. Had to get the attention of our waiter every time a drink ran out. Food is mediocre and overpriced.

Y’all, you have got it try this place out! Overwhelmed by the drink selection for margaritas, the chips and queso (to die for), and the tacos are street style and they come one by one and you order as many as you like but everything was amazing and no disappointments !!!

A relaxed and picturesque environment with relaxed service. The staff were friendly but from observing, everything moved at a slow pace. We arrived in the middle of the rush (approximately 7:15 on a Friday night) so once we sat down we saw the hostess turning customers away since the wait would be so long.

Nice view of the lake. Relaxed setting. Take this place as is and roll with it and you’ll have a good time. Not your typical Lake Minnetonka joint. No need sneaking a bottle in – BYOB is encouraged.

Closed the patio on Father’s Day! Every one was crammed into 1 tiny section inside. Most the restaurant was closed inside too, and the patio. We went somewhere else.

This is the first time we’ve been back here since they reopened. The docks have been totally redone and look great.

I had high hopes for an improved dining experience now that the Tequila Butcher has ownership. Unfortunately, the only thing The Caribbean has going for it is the lovely lake side setting. The young staff is very friendly but not trained. Food is extremely sub par – lacking in flavor and quality. Portions are tiny for the price. Example – one jalapeño popper is $5! Tacos barely have any filing for $6 each. You can skip a visit to The Caribbean.

Place looks great…had a nice dinner there last nite. Wait staff a little, perhaps, untrained – had to ask for napkins! Burger was great! Red wine too warm. You should definitely chill that. THX
