This was a first visit at this location in Ballston Spa, NY. They opened this location in the first week of November 2025, at what used to be a Pizza Hut location. We had the pleasure of interacting with 2 Team members, while ordering our food. Each were pleasant, helpful, and excellent representation for this business. Our 2 orders were fresh and hot, with everything being ready in 2-3 minutes from payment. Their fish was to die for; hot, cooked perfectly, flaky fish and not the least bit oily with a great batter dipped coating. To be expected since Fish is in their name!
Coleslaw is such a personal choice as far as taste goes. I personally like a sweet, creamy coleslaw with the slaw shredded or finely chopped. It is not unusual for me to skip it altogether, because I am so picky. I did not taste the coleslaw today.
I had scallops included in my dinner. They were cooked well but a little salty. Very large scallops indeed!
Our fries and the clams were freshly cooked based on their temperature when we sat down to eat. We did not however feel either were fully cooked or oil was not up to temperature. The fries for the most part were soft and limp. This affects taste considerably so neither of us enjoyed them.
The clams were also either under-cooked, or the oil temperature was not adequate. Many of the smaller pieces were tasty but not crunchy. The majority of the remaining clam pieces were chewy and tasteless. I had quite a pile of “want them to taste good but they didn’t”.
Lastly was the shrimp, which each of us enjoyed immensely. Crunchy coating, perfectly cooked, and delicious.
We chose not to bring our concerns to the staff during our meal,
as replacing any items would inconvenience all involved, and they were quite busy that afternoon / early evening.
Hoping this was a one-time issue that gets resolved, as it would definitely improve repeat business.
Lastly in reviewing the many choices on the menu, there was no Fish and Chicken combo. Each were available individually, just not as a meal.

Taco Tuesday in Bspa will never be the same again! Ted’s is the best, and we’re so excited to have you in Ballston spa. I work within 7 miles of 2 Ted’s and so happy to have one near home. Run don’t walk and go get you some teds. Love what you did with the building and from a fresh start it seems like your staff has been doing this forever. Thank you Ted’s !

Order up, the old fashioned way.

And by that I mean you tell the lady at the counter what you want, and she’ll yell it out to the kitchen to get made. How exciting.

I myself went with an order of the Big Ted’s Seafood Platter and an order of the Calamari, which initially I was not going to get, but was recommended it by a friend of the family who knows I love good calamari. Altogether coming to a bit over $30, a reasonable price for what you get. Though the size of the calamari, was not worth the nearly $8 price tag.

Got everything back home, after just a handful of minutes waiting for the food to be made, super fast service! The fish was the clear breadwinner, lots of flavor, good thickness, a very clean fried texture. Very good. The shrimp was also banging, though I cleared through both in two bites. The scallops were alright, plenty big, but something about their flavor was off. The clam strips were ok, but they cooled down faster than anything else resulting in very gummy consistency. Not pleasant. The fries suffered the same cooling rate, meaning cold, floppy, sad chips. And that calamari, average at best. Not sure what that family friend was on about, but I’ve honestly had better from Chinese buffets. Needs more tentacles and a longer fry time, as I found several pieces were still doughy in the center of the ring. Yucky.

Overall, fast and unique service, firm handed prices, and a recommendation to stick to the fish fry.

I could not finish the food. Idk why they switched to the small fish slices from the one big piece of haddock. Clams were very chewy and everything fries included were straight up soggy. I’m assuming this was because they either didn’t vent the bag enough or are putting the food in the bag too hot. I don’t know that we will be coming back to this location anytime soon.

This shop is an embarrassment to the Teds Fish fry restaurant chain. At12 pm on Thursday it was a chaotic mess. First I noticed plate after plate of food coming out and no one new who it was for. My wife watched the manager walking around with a hamburger that had no home. The woman working the register had issues every time a card was used. That and the fact that even though the line wasn’t moving she wanted to chat it up with everyone. I always use my card but watching this display I quickly grabbed cash. This went on for 10 minutes. The who did this who did that. After that we sat down for an over the top salt lick and weird tasting scallops. The black eye of Teds fish fry. A bad decision for two seniors that rarely get out.

Get the signature fish fry! The fish itself is incredibly fresh, flaky, and moist, but the real magic is the crust. Paired with their outstanding homemade tartar sauce! Don’t sleep on the mini hot dogs!!!

Beyond the food, the staff is so friendly and orders are made quick. The staff treats everyone like a regular, and the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a classic, no-frills establishment. If you’re anywhere near Ted’s, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won’t be disappointed!

This one is personal for me. I grew up with Ted’s bring the only place we ate out at regularly. Between the location in burgh with friends and more memorably the watervliet location with my grandmother most Friday nights. My family now visits the Clifton park location often. We anxiously watched for an open date of the ballston spa location. After a busy day we made it at 8pm. We weren’t disappointed hearing they sold out of so many items on opening day, although the staff apologized and gave customers gift cards for their inconvenience. I ordered the classic fish fry combo with cheese for my fries and a cup of New England for lunch today. It did not disappoint! One thing about Ted’s, no matter the location is the consistency of their food. It’s the same no matter what. The owners were busy but still made time to talk to us, and everyone even going table to table. The employees working to turn out orders fast, as they always have and do. The new location has a modern yet nostalgic atmosphere while keeping some of the elements of the former Pizza Hut. As people left tables were cleaned promptly. We are so happy to have a Ted’s local! Go check it out and support this family owned business.

I love Ted’s fish fry as long as you get fish. Do not get the chicken tenders. They are the poorest excuse for chicken. Even McDonald’s nuggets are better. The tenders were quite expensive for what you get since they are of such poor quality. Since all your other food is so good and of higher quality, please bite the bullet and order tenders that live up to your fish standards. Thank you.

Ok. So this is the newest Ted’s. Not impressed. They have the worst coleslaw I have ever had. Not fresh at all. I went there on Monday for lunch. A big waste of money. I don’t know why everyone loves this place. The fish frys have gotten really small, but the prices keep going up. Scallops were actually good. Fried clams were like rubber bands. I spent 80.00 on food, and threw half of it out. Even my dogs turned their noses up. Won’t ever go back. What a shame. P.S. why is your coleslaw so bad? No excuse!
