Nostalgic place. Unique loose-meat burgers and the onion chips are addictive. They have daily specials that’s meaningful. Highly recommend stop while in Sioux City, IA; the original location.

They dont really do loose meat burgers out west, I dont think, but maybe its a Midwest thing. The idea is good, but if you’re not careful your whole meal could unravel out of the bun and onto your lap. The meat had great flavors. We just got the regular one with fries and one with onion chips and some dipping sauce. Midwest may not have fry sauce, but I tell ya fry sauce would pair up with the onion chips better than the dipping sauce for sure. The dipping sauce if good, but I think that would be better for chicken nuggets or chicken tenders. I live in the fry sauce capital. Fries of any style and onion rings are nothing without fry sauce! Prices were just right. I love the old school atmosphere. Happy to know you guys don’t feel the pressure to modernize it all. Keep it just as is, cuz most places like this are gone for good!

I love Tastee! The food is always hot and delicious, and it’s fun to eat loose meats and know they were invented in Sioux City! Tastee might just make the best loose meats in the whole world. And I love the onion chips so much too.

Hot, fresh, tasty. Pricey. Awesome customer service. They were out of the stickers. I really wanted to get 2. Romeo, my dog, loved the ice cream cone. I nibbled a bite of it and it was yummy.

LOOOVE the onion chips & dip. I come all the way from Omaha, they’re that good. Take a sip of pepto first, though. Ice cream is really good, too.

On my regular visits to Sioux City, curiosity finally led me to try the local fast-food spot I’d noticed. The highlight? A dish that defies expectations – not your standard burger, but a dry sloppy Joe. The lack of sauce was puzzling until I saw the setup, and the accompanying spoon suddenly made sense, though it left me wishing for more flavor.

Seating is outdoor only, with a few picnic tables if you’re keen to dine in the fresh air. The place has potential, but I couldn’t help but feel that some lively, old-timey tunes over loudspeakers would’ve enhanced the nostalgic vibe they’re missing.

While the food left me wanting, it was an experience – one that I’ve ticked off my list. If you find yourself in Sioux City with a craving for fast food and a penchant for the unconventional, give it a go – but don’t set your hopes too high for satisfaction.

This version keeps the original insights but refines the advice and descriptions to better guide potential diners.

First time here and try the hype .

It just happened that we were driving around the area and looking for local food Saw the hype review in google so we have to check this place.
We travel and we like to try new food and give reviews.

The location is next to the highway but I think the physical store needs something to update

There’s no dine.
It has a waiting shed outside I’m guessing you can eat there or they called it a picnic bench and it’s only one .

*** FOOD – is not the best and seems overpriced for the quality and quantity.
Meat need sauce or seasoned it.
The chips and dip is Ok . The sauce is not bad but it has a weird texture maybe cause it was on the fridge and too cooled.

Husband described the ” taste or loose burger is like a dry sloppy joe. (No sauce) – he’s from TX

But we got good service the lady was nice and fast to take our orders .

Not knowing what a “loose meat sandwich” is, we were still wanting to try this Sioux City staple that has that wonderfully authentic old school vibe and is ALWAYS busy. I would describe it as an un-patty hamburger, complete with a pickle and mustard. Onion chips are tender but crisp and mellow in flavor (and I’m not an onion ring fan). How’d they get the name? You’ll know after one bite when you say aloud – “that’s tasty”.

I’m 52 years old now and I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. The food is still the same. Still tastes great. A great alternative to the run of the mill fast food out there.

Great classic Sioux City place for crumbly burgers with onion chips. They have homemade dip for their onion chips which is da bomb!
