This is a hidden gem in DC. The food was incredible. And also very cheap for the quality you’re getting! But the best part of our experience was our server, Abdi. He was one of the kindest servers I’ve ever met and made our whole dinner incredible. He was performing all of the duties alone (host, server, chef!) and still took the time to be personable. I will be coming back many times!

My visit to Tartufo was on an evening when the restaurant was extremely understaffed with only two individuals. One staff member was performing host, waiter, and chef duties, and the other staff member was bussing. With a little patience for the slow service, it ended up being well worth it. The food was incredible, and I will absolutely be returning.

I had the best mushroom ravioli of my life. So that is what everyone has been talking about with truffles. Seriously, go for this dish alone. Although we also did enjoy the caprese salad and clam spaghetti.

Food itself is well priced and good. Portions are a bit smaller but we were full with a salad (think European portion sizes). Service was friendly and atmosphere was relaxed. However, service was also incredibly slow. I’m not convinced that we would have been able to get out if we didn’t walk to the bar ourselves to request the check after waiting around for 30 minutes after finishing the meal. I get it–every place in America has trouble hiring, but I’m providing an honest assessment if the experience. Also, so many things weren’t available that were on the menu. Only 1 of the 8 listed dessert items was available. So just be prepared.

Tartufo is the lovliest place. My husband and I went a few times before the pandemic and now we’ve taken to doing carryout. It’s sometimes hard to find a place that does dinner and dessert well – Tartufo excels at both. My personal favorites are the meatball appetizer and the Tartufata… Buon appetito!

Cozy, authentic, and delicious with excellent customer service. We made our second visit tonight and were reminded why we decided to return. Calamari, salads, pastas, and desserts will not disappoint. Freshly made and perfectly portioned. Recommended and will be revisiting.
