First time in and we loved the atmosphere and the beer! The history of the building, mixed with a modern touch creates a nice vibe and comfortable atmosphere. The staff are quick and friendly and the food was ok, but not great. Next time in I’d order the Brussels sprouts and a couple other items that looked really good, but the burger could have been better.
All that said, the beer was outstanding! Loved the west coast styles and flavors and was very pleasantly surprised at the high quality!
This is an easy five stars for the beer and atmosphere, and hopefully my burger was just a product of an off day. If you’re nearby and you like good breweries, you owe it to yourself to try their place!

We were in town just to pick up something and figured we’d pop in for a beer and something to eat.
Nice atmosphere. We sat at the bar. Service was great, beers were great, food was exceptional!!! We were pleasantly surprised to have such delicious food at a brewery.
We had the cabbage pancakes (similar to kimchi pancakes) and the Korean fries with pulled pork. Would definitely go here again.
Highly recommend!

Cool spot and the food smelled amazing although I didn’t try any. My hazy ipa was good but the service was not.
I couldn’t get anyone’s attention at the bar and after I did get a beer, I couldn’t get anyone to take my payment. It was very odd. The guy who finally took my card barely said a word or smiled. The place was not that busy either.

I really wanted to like this place…. the beer was good. But it kind of stopped there. Our table on the patio had flies flying around the whole time. Even my children were complaing about the flies landing on and around them. The street tacos were mediocre at best and quite pricey, $11 for two fish tacos and $10 for two chicken. Although, the chips and salsa were quite good. The server was nice, but service was really slow, for the four tables outside. I’d definitely come back for the beers, but maybe not the food.

Driving south on 35 out of Minneapolis and found Tanzenwald while searching for gluten free nearby. A bit out of the way but it looked great so gave it a try.
Our visit coincided with dinner rush on a parent’s weekend for a local college so the place was extremely busy but the crew was absolutely amazing. Completely unfazed by the madness around them, they greeted everyone with a smile, seamlessly helped one another, and joked amongst themselves and the customers, all without stopping or skipping a beat. We may have waited a little longer but it was worth it.
On the food, their GF options are quite limited but they understand how to handle allergens and my wife was able to enjoy her meal without reaction. The burgers were cooked to a near perfect medium, the fries were crisp, and the sprouts (with bacon, of course) were delicious.
If you have the time for a little detour, it’s well worth the extra drive.

Our server was wonderful, I sadly do not remember her name. We didn’t know you could make reservations, but we came shortly after opening and were able to get in with a party of 10 on the front patio with two picnic tables pushed together. Loved that they had umbrellas with them as it was a hot day! The bar bites and key lime pie may have been my favorite, but the hot chicken sandwich was good too. Had a sour and ipa, both were great!

Great place for a date! My husband and I tried this place out for lunch and beer. Beers and food were delicious! Service is fast, nice and helped me pick my 4th beer choice for my flight. We will definitely be back again! Also loved the atmosphere too!

First thing you notice when walking in is the beautifully lacquered wood bar and tables. Great ambiance and open view of the beer vats. Love the humourous effort put into the naming of the brews! Food far exceeded our expectations with super crunchy, full – sized wings and a better than average Chicken Wild Rice Soup. This was filled to the rim and a extremely good deal for the money! We both really liked the Thi Master Hazy Pale Ale with just enough tropical fruit notes to be refreshing without being overly sweet. Oh, loved the Suzanne Sommers tie in pun too! Black and Blue Burger had a great sear and coupled with the huge amount of blue cheese flavor put in my top ten list of best burgers….period! Another Brix In the Wall is a Belgian Sour Cherry that takes about two years to make. Spends 14 months aging in chardonnay barrels and uses locally grown Welch Cherries. Wasn’t as sour as I had expected with just a bit of hoppiness and a Chardonnay background. Cherries complimented but, did not overwhelm the beer taste. Our waitress, Karlee was very knowledgeable about the brews and had a great sense of humor. Was a great end to our little Northfield vacation. Great little town and we’ll definitely be back!
